NINE SIGNS OF THE 2nd COMING OF JESUS

5/20/2011

Matt 24:3-14

3 And as he sat upon the mount of Olives, the disciples came unto him privately, saying, Tell us, when shall these things be? and what shall be the sign of thy coming, and of the end of the world?

4 And Jesus answered and said unto them, Take heed that no man deceive you.

5 For many shall come in my name, saying, I am Christ; and shall deceive many.

6 And ye shall hear of wars and rumours of wars: see that ye be not troubled: for all these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet.

7 For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom: and there shall be famines, and pestilences, and earthquakes, in divers places.

8 All these are the beginning of sorrows.

9 Then shall they deliver you up to be afflicted, and shall kill you: and ye shall be hated of all nations for my name's sake.

10 And then shall many be offended, and shall betray one another, and shall hate one another.

11 And many false prophets shall rise, and shall deceive many.

12 And because iniquity shall abound, the love of many shall wax cold.

13 But he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved.

14 And this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations; and then shall the end come.

(KJV)

*** The bible has 66 books and one third is prophetic books.

*** The return of Jesus Christ is the 2nd most important theme of the New Testament. The only other subject mentioned more is redemption.

*** His return is mentioned 318 times, all nine authors speak of it, 23 of 27 books in the N.T.

*** Paul went to Thessalonica and he only stayed there 3 weeks, in that time he wrote 6 times about His return in 5 chapters to that new church.

*** Paul wrote 13 letters in the N.T. Communion 2, baptism 13 times, 50 times on the 2nd coming.

*** At the inception of the church, the day of Pentecost, from that day when you are baptized in the name of Jesus you became part of the bride of Christ, God called you His church, from that day He has been looking forward to coming back for you.

*** He said when you see the church at ease, banqueting and partying, and then shall it come.

*** AND there is prophecy all through the bible of apostate Christendom

*** These three questions open a discourse by Jesus of the signs of the end.

*** They show us the closeness of Jesus 2nd coming, but do not set the date or hour.

*** Spiritually alert Christians can discern these events and be aware.

*** 1st of all the mental state of the world would be two fold.

*** Distress of nations and perplexity would exist.

*** “Distress” means “oppressed under pressure”, and “perplexity” means “bewilderment”.

*** Never before have men been so uncertain and fearful.

*** Heart attacks claim more lives than any other disease.

*** Pressure has filled hospital wards and psychiatric care centers with broken mankind.

*** Many people exist as mere shadows of what human beings should be.

*** Next He said, Many would be offended.

*** Throughout the world today the courts, psychiatrist, and social agencies struggle to overcome the impossible task of patching the lives of people after they have been offended.

*** 2nd The return of the conditions of the days of Noah.

*** Much has already been discussed but one thing we need to discuss is marring and giving in marriage.

*** It’s not that it is wrong but that it’s not serious or sacred anymore.

*** Divorce has increased by 1400% since 1910.

*** 3rd The rise and fall of false prophets.

*** Never before have people followed every whim of doctrine.

*** People no longer feel pressed to have a real born again experience.

***Many books have been written but few really explain what it involves.

*** They merely offer a pseudo sense of security, along with an equally nebulous experience, which often involves no more than a handshake.

*** Instead of being presented as the priceless gem it is, salvation is packaged, wrapped, marketed, advertised and sold by every conceivable means available.

*** Gospel has become big business, and most of the time, real involvement with a living God eludes the followers.

*** 4th Lawlessness will increases.

*** Just one comparison is the crime rate and recent rioting.

*** 5th Scoffers.

*** Even among so called ministers today there is a tendency to ridicule literal translations of the bible.

*** An article in Time magazine a few years ago stated that 49% of the Methodist ministers did not believe in the literal resurrection of Jesus Christ.
