Summary: Things to strength your relationship with God.
Topic: Nine “A“ Source of Abiding.
I Abiding a Christ-like walk. 1 John 2:6 (GW)
6 Those who say that they live in him must live the same way he lived.
II Abiding in Christ. John 15:1-8 (GW)
1 {Then Jesus said,} “I am the true vine, and my Father takes care of the vineyard.
2 He removes every one of my branches that doesn't produce fruit. He also prunes every branch that does produce fruit to make it produce more fruit.
3 “You are already clean because of what I have told you.
4 Live in me, and I will live in you. A branch cannot produce any fruit by itself. It has to stay attached to the vine. In the same way, you cannot produce fruit unless you live in me.
5 “I am the vine. You are the branches. Those who live in me while I live in them will produce a lot of fruit. But you can't produce anything without me.
6 Whoever doesn't live in me is thrown away like a branch and dries up. Branches like this are gathered, thrown into a fire, and burned.
7 If you live in me and what I say lives in you, then ask for anything you want, and it will be yours.
8 You give glory to my Father when you produce a lot of fruit and therefore show that you are my disciples.
III Abiding in Christ's love. John 15:9-12 (GW)
9 “I have loved you the same way the Father has loved me. So live in my love.
10 If you obey my commandments, you will live in my love. I have obeyed my Father's commandments, and in that way I live in his love.
11 I have told you this so that you will be as joyful as I am, and your joy will be complete.
12 Love each other as I have loved you. This is what I'm commanding you to do.
IV Abiding in Continuing in the Word and doctrine of Christ. John 8:31-32 (GW)
31 So Jesus said to those Jews who believed in him, “If you live by what I say, you are truly my disciples.
32 You will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.”
2 John 1:9 (GW)
9 Everyone who doesn't continue to teach what Christ taught doesn't have God. The person who continues to teach what Christ taught has both the Father and the Son.
V Abiding in the Holy Spirit. John 14:15-17 (GW)
15 “If you love me, you will obey my commandments.
16 I will ask the Father, and he will give you another helper who will be with you forever.
17 That helper is the Spirit of Truth. The world cannot accept him, because it doesn't see or know him. You know him, because he lives with you and will be in you.
VI Abiding in Loving one another. 1 John 4:12-16 (GW)
12 No one has ever seen God. If we love each other, God lives in us, and his love is perfected in us.
13 We know that we live in him and he lives in us because he has given us his Spirit.
14 We have seen and testify to the fact that the Father sent his Son as the Savior of the world.
15 God lives in those who declare that Jesus is the Son of God, and they live in God.
16 We have known and believed that God loves us. God is love. Those who live in God's love live in God, and God lives in them.
VII Abiding in Obedience and discipline. 1 John 2:4-6 (GW)
4 The person who says, “I know him,” but doesn't obey his commandments is a liar. The truth isn't in that person.
5 But whoever obeys what Christ says is the kind of person in whom God's love is perfected. That's how we know we are in Christ.
6 Those who say that they live in him must live the same way he lived.
VIII Abiding in the gospel. 1 John 2:26-27 (GW)
26 I'm writing to you about those who are trying to deceive you.
27 The anointing you received from Christ lives in you. You don't need anyone to teach you something else. Instead, Christ's anointing teaches you about everything. His anointing is true and contains no lie. So live in Christ as he taught you to do.
IX Abiding in the truth. 2 John 1:2 (GW)
2 We love you because of the truth which lives in us and will be with us forever.
