New Year

1. This new year we could LIVE AWAKE — NOT ASLEEP

• Remember Romans 13:11–12 “The hour has come for you to wake from sleep… the night is far gone; the day is at hand.”

• Paul probably isn’t talking about physical sleep. He’s talking about spiritual drowsiness.

• Sometimes I drift instead of decide

• I heard some say they react instead of repent

• We coast instead of commit

• New Year’s Eve is a wake up call.

2. This New Year we could LIVE READY — NOT REGRETFUL

• Remember Matthew 24:44 You also must be ready, for the Son of Man is coming at an hour you do not expect.”

• Jesus said, Prepare for My return.”

• Is there sin I need to lay down

• Is there obedience I’ve been delaying

• Is there forgiveness I’ve been withholding

• Is there a calling I’ve been ignoring

3. This New Year let’s LIVE HOLY — NOT HALFHEARTED

• Remember 1 John 3:2–3 “When He appears… everyone who hopes in Him purifies himself.”

• Living holy is being motivated to follow Christ

• Living holy is desiring to live the straight and narrow

• Living holy is striving everyday to reflect the image of the Christ the one who suffered for righteousness, the one who lived with humility, compassion, and always forgiving

4. This New Year let’s LIVE MISSION — Minded

• Remember Matthew 28:19–20 19 Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”

• The early church didn’t hide from the world while waiting for Jesus.They reached out to the world.

• Let’s share the gospel boldly ,let’s love people, let’s serve people

5. This NewYear let’s live LIVE HOPEFUL —

• Remember Titus 2:13 “Waiting for our blessed hope — the appearing of the glory of our great God and Savior Jesus Christ.”

• I am just waiting for the blessed hope the return of the Christ.

• I am not in panic mode, I am not in despair, I am not giving up, I am waiting and living with hope.

6. This New Year as the church of Christ let’s choose

• to live awake

• to live ready

• to live holy

• Ito live mission minded

• to live hopeful
