Summary: Paul shares with us each day as we look forward we awake to new mercies each day.
New Mercies I see as I look forward Eph 3:1-12
Origin of The New Years Resolution began 153 BC. January 1 was a fixed new year’s day for the Roman calendar. Romans has mystical god named Janus basically this is where we get the name of the month January. Janus had two faces one face allowed him to look forward and one allowed him look backward. Considered the god of doorways and gates. Janus could look back on the past years events and forward to the future year. Romans sought forgiveness during the New Year and exchanged gifts during this period.
1. Gods plans has always been for Gods people to look forward
.Jeremiah said to Israel," 24But they did not listen or pay attention; instead, they followed
the stubborn inclinations of their evil hearts. They went backward and not forward
Proverbs says 25Let your eyes look straight ahead, fix your gaze directly before you.
Paul says, but one thing I do:
Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, 14I press on toward the goal to win
the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus.
2. Morning by morning new Mercies I see
I see the Administration of Grace is Given for you
2Surely you have heard about the administration of God
3. The writer looks forward and sees yet another mercy
It is the Inclusiveness of God
. 4In reading this, then, you will be able to understand my insight into the mystery of Christ, 5which was
not made known to men in other generations as it has now been revealed by the Spirit to God’s holy
apostles and prophets. 6This mystery is that through the gospel the Gentiles are heirs together with Israel,
4. The writer looks forward and sees more mercies bestowed on himself
although he is unworthy he is made worthy to Gospelize
. 8Although I am less than the least of all God’s people, this grace was given me: to preach to the
Gentiles the unsearchable riches of Christ, 9and to make plain to everyone the administration of
this mystery, which for ages past was kept hidden in God, who created all things.
5. The writer looks forward to see more and more mercies it is the freedoms
and confidences we have in Christ Jesus
12In him and through faith in him we may approach God with freedom and confidence.
6. Yes morning by morning new mercies we see
The new mercy we see is we will behold is Judgement.
Heb 5:2He is able to deal gently with those who are ignorant and are going astray
7. The New Mercy I see is there is no condemnation in Christ
. John 3:17For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him.
8. The New Mercy I see is The Kindness of God to Humanity
Isaiah 54: 10Though the mountains be shaken
and the hills be removed, yet my unfailing love for you will not be shaken
nor my covenant of peace be removed," says the LORD, who has compassion on you
9.The New Mercy I see is the Compassion of God
towards those who at times are Shepardless
. 36When he saw the crowds, he had compassion on them, because they were
harassed and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd.
10. The New Mercy I see is the Yearn of Christ to gather
those who are scattered and unprotected
37"O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, you who kill the prophets and stone those sent to you, how
often I have longed to gather your children together, as a hen gathers her chicks under
her wing
