Chapters 2:18-4:6
Introduction: Illustration of “Not success but faithfulness”
I. They discovered God’s will (v. 2:18)
- Illustration of “The will of God”
A. God’s hand was on them
B. How God provided
C. They decided to follow God and encourage each other
II. They prayed for protection (vs.4:4,5)
- Illustration of “God’s protection”
A. Instead of responding to critics they turned them over to God
B. For God to level the field that the work may get done
C. Prayed based on the fact that the opposition was opposing God’s will
III. They had a mind to work (v. 4:6)
- (2Ti 3:16 All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: )
- (2Ti 3:17 That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works.)
A. Their heart was in it
B. They looked forward to seeing results
C. The work load was shared by most rather than a few
Conclusion:
- Discover God’s will
- Rely on God to do it
- Get the work going
