Plan for: Thanksgiving | Advent | Christmas
The Storms will come, the storms will go, but Jesus always remains! This sermon is one of hope for better days!
Let me tell you about a man named Steve. Steve was living what some people might call the American Dream. He had a great wife and two wonderful children. He lived in a beautiful house on a quiet street and had a job that most people would love to have. However, one day Steve found out that his management job had been eliminated. As the bills grew higher and the tension between Steve and his family increased, they found themselves facing what can be described as "The Storms of Life." And that's what I want to talk about today!
Have you ever experienced storms in your life? Those times where things just didn't make sense. Times where your problems seemed so big and your faith seemed so small. Times where you felt so overwhelmed and afraid that you thought the storm would consume you. I think we have all felt like that at some point!
Jesus' disciples were no different. In Mark 4:35-41, we see how they dealt with a physical storm. They were sailing on a boat when suddenly a fierce storm arose. The winds howled, and the waves crashed over the boat, causing the disciples to fear for their lives. Just like them, when the storms come, they bring emotions of fear, anger, frustration, and uncertainty.
The storms will come! Even if everything is going great right now, we must remember to have faith in Jesus because the storms will come. It only takes a split second for everything to change, for everything to be turned upside down. It could be losing a job, a family member's accident, or a natural disaster destroying your home. The list goes on and on. But no matter what storm we face, we must never give up. We must keep focused on what's important and remember to have faith in Jesus.
The storms will go! I have never seen a storm that lasted forever. Even when it feels like the storm will never end, the sun eventually comes out, the temperature rises, and the storm passes. We can take hope in the fact that no matter how bad things get, the storms will pass. Just like Jesus calmed the winds and waves for the disciples, He will calm the storms in our lives too. We must remember to put our faith in Jesus, even after the storm is gone.
Jesus always remains! He is not only there in the storms of our lives but also in the good times. He wants to share in our joys as well as our sorrows. We must put our faith in Jesus because He is always there for us. His love, peace, patience, and kindness are always available to us. We must remember to let Jesus remain in our lives, not just in times of trouble but at all times.
Let's revisit our friend Steve. Since we last saw him, everything has changed. He found a new job and rediscovered his relationship with Jesus. Steve realized that he couldn't do it all on his own. He learned that Jesus is always there, in good times and bad. All he had to do was put his faith in Him.
I think Steve is on the right track. When the storms come, we must remember to put our faith in Jesus because He will help us through tough times. When the storms go, we must remember to put our faith in Jesus because He will help us put our lives back together, strengthening and encouraging us along the way. And most importantly, we must remember to put our faith in Jesus because Jesus always remains! Won't you let Him into your life during the good times and the bad? I challenge you today to always let Jesus remain in your life.
