My Joy Will Rest In You Lord

HHM Pastor Jim Parisi 02-02-03

With the hustle and bustle of the Holidays over we have a moment to breath.

Reflect on our lives and the direction that the Lord is leading us these days.

A “new year” we said a few weeks ago, it is now February, before long it will be June, then December again.

Life is marching on at a rapid pace and we are to use this life to the fullest for the Kingdome of God.

The problem we face in this life… especially here on the west coast of America. Time waits for no man.

Is that the pressure to produce and see profit is ever increasing.

We run like madmen to start and finish projects and our bodies and relationships are taking the toll.

We are dying younger and more marriages families and friends are running amuck.

We are losing the battle.

How do we change this scenario?

Great teachings on waiting upon the Lord are in the bible.

All the tools we need are there for a peaceful life

We are so consumed with our lives had how we think things should be run.

We forget there is a divine order to all this and we are called to play our part.

Not only as a group but as individuals also.

STRESS is killing us off.

Fear is motivating us to move before God Calls.

Peace is our legacy let us look in the scriptures. We are to rest in Him.

Philippians 4:6-8 6 Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; 7 and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus. 8 Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy--meditate on these things.

Why am I always trying to control the situation?

If you have a bona fide need we know the Lord will provide it.

Look at Abraham’s faith.

When Isaac asked His Father…..Dad where is the Sacrifice?

Talk about a time to stress out if you don’t have an answer.

But Abraham did… He had the best one….. One of faith and One power

Ge 22:8 And Abraham said, "My son, God will provide for Himself the lamb for a burnt offering." So the two of them went together.

Think this could have been a stressful moment for old Abe?

Ge 22:14 And Abraham called the name of the place, Jehovahjireh (King James)

“ The-Lord-Will-Provide”; New King James… as it is said to this day, "In the Mount of The Lord it shall be provided."

Jehovahjireh “ The-Lord-Will-Provide

Why are we out there searching for what we think we need?

Looking for the great fix all out in the world.

Putting ourselves out there… in the world playing by their rules.

As open prey for the enemy…

Sin starts to enter our lives because we can’t compete on their playing field

Did you know that it was once said that…

That the basis of all SIN is selflessness.

A self driven nature to please one’s self and not please GOD.

We look to the world like it will have the answers and all along we should be looking up to Him for all our needs.

What is your need?

Health… finance… wisdom… loved ones saved.. a new car.. A Mate?

How easy is it for God to bless us if we are in the right position to be blessed?

So why do we insist on doing ourselves?

Whatever the situation is… whatever your need is.

It comes down to this…… Jehovahjireh “ The-Lord-Will-Provide

If you can’t believe that all your resource is from God…

Would our unbelief make it all untrue?

Then Gen22:14 would be a lie and if Gen 22:14 is a lie…

Then the whole book is untrue…God forbid

But we know better let’s look at

Ro 3:3- 4 3 For what if some did not believe? Will their unbelief make the faithfulness of God without effect? 4 Certainly not! Indeed, let God be true but every man a liar..

We stand upon the word of God and all its truth for our lives

My point today is if you can trust God with your soul.

If you can trust God for your salvation.

How much more is it to trust Him for your Daily Bread?

How much more is it to trust Him for all our natural needs?

Praise Him… That He loves us and cares for us.

Praise Him… That He looks upon us as His Children.
