My Father’s Will

Often too many times families are re-united together at the passing of one of their own. The funeral is a somber reminder of the fragility of human life.

The funeral has the ability to bring us closer to each other, at least physically more than we may have been in years.

Promises are made, usually with the best of intentions.

However, because of the business of this life and the shortness of time and the great distances between most people now days, family togetherness is put back upon the shelf, to be removed at a later time.

Another sure way to arouse the family members together is the notification by the way of a summons, issued by the court, for the reading of the deceased persons Will.

A Will is put in place you see, to ensure that the deceased persons wishes be accomplished after their death.

Its purpose is for the benefit of someone else.

In order for others to benefit from the Will, someone has got to die.

The New Testament in the Bible, in one sense, a person could say is a Type of Will.

The Bible is written and expressed with all the expectations and desires by the one who perished.

The Bible says

John 1:1

1:1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.

KJV

John 1:2-4

2 The same was in the beginning with God.

3 All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made.

4 In him was life; and the life was the light of men.

KJV

John 1:10

10 He was in the world, and the world was made by him, and the world knew him not.

KJV

John 1:12

12 But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name:

KJV

John 1:14

14 And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.

KJV

The Bible was written so that you and I would hopefully, come to understand by the reading and discerning of the word which is contained within, what is our Father’s Will.

Death will eventually come to take us all by the hand one day.

The only exception to that rule applies to born again believers who are alive when Jesus returns. In that case the Bible says in

1 Cor 15:51-52

51 Behold, I shew you a mystery; We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed,

52 In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed.

KJV

Unless the rapture happens in our life time, we will all taste death one day. So with death imminent, it becomes more important to know our future.

So what does the Father’s Will say?

He says

Matt 18:14

14 Even so it is not the will of your Father which is in heaven, that one of these little ones should perish .

Well, if it is not the will of our father that you and I should perish, then it must be his will, that we should live.

He knows that we have a problem and that is the stain of sin in our lives.

We want to do what we want to do, when we want to do it.

Without help we cannot overcome this, we cannot overcome the life of this world.

We are lost to an endless cycle of sin. Paul says in

Rom 7:14-25

14 For we know that the law is spiritual: but I am carnal, sold under sin.

15 For that which I do I allow not: for what I would, that do I not; but what I hate, that do I.

16 If then I do that which I would not, I consent unto the law that it is good.

17 Now then it is no more I that do it, but sin that dwelleth in me.

18 For I know that in me (that is, in my flesh,) dwelleth no good thing: for to will is present with me; but how to perform that which is good I find not.

19 For the good that I would I do not: but the evil which I would not, that I do.

20 Now if I do that I would not, it is no more I that do it, but sin that dwelleth in me.

21 I find then a law, that, when I would do good, evil is present with me.
