King James Version:

God shall hear, and afflict them, even he that abideth of old. Selah. Because they have no changes, therefore they fear not God.

VIII. MAIN BODY:

A. GOD will depress my enemies

"God will hear and humble them, even He Who abides of old—Selah [pause, and calmly think of that]!"

Afflict or "anah" in Hebrew which means:

1. to depress literally or figuratively

2. deal hardly with

3. defile, force, hurt, weaken

Deuteronomy 33:27 (Amplified Bible)

33:27 The eternal God is your refuge and dwelling place, and underneath are the everlasting arms; He drove the enemy before you and thrust them out, saying, Destroy!

Psalms 3:7 (Amplified Bible)

3:7 Arise, O Lord; save me, O my God! For You have struck all my enemies on the cheek; You have broken the teeth of the ungodly.

Psalms 58:10 (Amplified Bible)

58:10 The [unyieldingly] righteous shall rejoice when he sees the vengeance; he will bathe his feet in the blood of the wicked.

Psalms 59:12-13 (Amplified Bible)

59:12 For the sin of their mouths and the words of their lips, let them even be trapped and taken in their pride, and for the cursing and lying which they utter.

59:13 Consume them in wrath, consume them so that they shall be no more; and let them know unto the ends of the earth that God rules over Jacob (Israel). Selah [pause, and calmly think of that]!

Psalms 68:22-23 (Amplified Bible)

68:22 The Lord said, I will bring back [your enemies] from Bashan; I will bring them back from the depths of the [Red] Sea,

68:23 That you may crush them, dipping your foot in blood, that the tongues of your dogs may have their share from the foe.

This is a future event about our enemies, what GOD will do to them and what we will do to them. But even now, they are being depressed by GOD.

B. My enemies don't fear GOD, they don't change.

"—because in them there has been no change [of heart], and they do not fear, revere, and worship God."

Because our enemies will never change.

Psalms 73:5-6 (Amplified Bible)

73:5 They are not in trouble as other men; neither are they smitten and plagued like other men.

73:6 Therefore pride is about their necks like a chain; violence covers them like a garment [like a long, luxurious robe].

Proverbs 1:32 (Amplified Bible)

1:32 For the backsliding of the simple shall slay them, and the careless ease of [self-confident] fools shall destroy them.

Isaiah 32:6 (Amplified Bible)

32:6 For the fool speaks folly and his mind plans iniquity: practicing profane ungodliness and speaking error concerning the Lord, leaving the craving of the hungry unsatisfied and causing the drink of the thirsty to fail.

Zephaniah 1:12 (Amplified Bible)

1:12 And at that time I will search Jerusalem with lamps and punish the men who [like old wine] are thickening and settling on their lees, who say in their hearts, The Lord will not do good, nor will He do evil.

These are unbelievers, never make believers your enemies for they will receive these punishments from GOD.

IX. CONCLUSION:

Psalms 124:2-4 (Amplified Bible)

124:2 If it had not been the Lord Who was on our side when men rose up against us,

124:3 Then they would have quickly swallowed us up alive when their wrath was kindled against us;

124:4 Then the waters would have overwhelmed us and swept us away, the torrent would have gone over us;

GOD will hear our prayers and afflict (depress) our enemies because they don't change and they don't fear GOD.

Praise, worship and thank You very much LORD JESUS for You will depress my enemies as part of vengeance among them because they don't fear GOD.
