Introduction

A. I have a feeling I know what must of you want to do when you get home

B. Take a nice CLEAN HOT LONG shower

C. I admit I feel kind of gross and slimy

D. I just want to be clean, don’t you?

E. Let’s talk about our experience tonight

I. In the pit

A. Explanation

1. We all got here, and some of us just jump right into the mud

2. There were others of us who kind of eased our way into the mud

3. You didn’t want to get dirty at first, mud has never been your thing

4. So you watched for a while, a then it became apparent to you and everyone else that it was fun to get muddy

5. So slowly inched your way in and the next thing that you know you are they throwing mud

6. And Boy you are having fun, you were having so much fun that you did not even realize how dirty you were

7. Then you stopped for a sec, looked at yourself and realize that you are filthy realize that you are dirty

8. It was at that moment that you wanted to be clean

9. You began to hope that the tanker truck would come so you could be washed

B. Application

1. Just like we are dirty with mud, we even have more dirt on our inside

2. Our inside are filthy

3. What makes our inside filthy? Sin!

4. Now you might be sitting there saying, I never killed anyone I don’t do drugs, I don’t smoke I don’t chew and I don’t date girls that do

5. But what is sin?

6. The Greek word for sin means to miss the mark

7. Think of a bulls eye you shoot your arrow and unless you hit the dead center of the bulls eye you missed that mark

8. Unless if you have never lied, never said anything bad, never got yelled at, never cheated on a test, you have missed the mark

9. Missing the mark make us dirty

10. So they we are filthy on the inside, waiting

11. Listen to what Psalm 40:1 I waited patiently for the Lord to help me, and he turned to me and heard my cry

II. Getting Pulled out of the pit

A. Explanation

1. So they you are waiting for that tanker truck to come and house you off

2. And here it comes down the road, you see it, you get exited

3. You know that the people inside the truck are going to get out of that truck, hook up the hose, turn it on

4. And you are going to be clean

5. You are going to be rescued from all that mud

6. You will be able to see your skin again

7. You will be clean

B. Application

1. Lets get back to our filthy insides

2. We need something to clean us on the inside

3. You can squirt all the water in the world at yourself, but it is not going to clean your inside

4. It will not get rid of the sin

5. There is only one way to get rid of the filth inside of you

6. Someone came to this Earth 2000 years ago to give us a gift

7. The gift is this: He will clean our insides and make us spotless

8. He will get rid of all the filth living inside of you

9. And you will be clean

10. Psalm 40:2 He lifted me out of the pit of despair, out of the mud. He set my feet on solid ground and steadied me as I walked along

III. Becoming clean

A. Explanation

1. The tanker came, got you clean

2. And you begin to feel good

3. You were so relied to get rid of that mud

4. That mud probably was weighing you done

5. Some of you probably had 50 lbs of mud on you, it become a really heavy burden

6. And now you are free

7. And now you are clean

8. Doesn’t that make you feel good?

B. Application

1. What did it take to get rid of the mud?

2. You had to be willing to let the tanker hose you off

3. If you did not let the tanker hose you off you would never get clean

4. To clean your insides you have to let the One person who can clean you, clean you

5. Just knowing that it is possible to be clean is not enough

6. You need to be clean

7. Once you accept that cleaning listen to what will happen

8. Ps. 40:3, He has given me a new song to sing, a hymn of praise to our God, Many will see what he has don’t and be astounded. They will put their trust in the Lord
