Summary: General Sermon About Accepting the Lord

MRS JESUS

Ephesians 5:22-33

How many of us are married?

Who is reading this and wants to get married?

Can you pause for a moment and think about what marriage is about?

God created us for His praise. He also wanted to get married. Everyone who is old enough to get married and is not is a lonely person. There are days of weeping and wondering when will my wife come, when will my husband come?

Whenever you give your life to Jesus you are actually saying I have accepted the Lord’s hand in marriage.

So what does marriage entail?

1.

It means a change of name. You used to be known as Mrs Lucifer or Ms Satan. Now the newspaper advert doing a change of name will read, I formerly known as Ms Satan now wish to be known and addressed as Mrs Jesus. All former documents remain valid? Certainly not. He says he is coming to take a bride that is without a spot. No sin, No baggage from her former father’s house, No foundational issues. Mrs Jesus’ wedding gown must be bright white with no stains.

2.

A newly married woman’s accommodation must change. She must move into her husband’s house. Ultimately, you must move to heaven to be with Jesus, but for now you have been translated from the kingdom of darkness and evil into the kingdom of light (Colossians 1:13).

The kingdom of darkness has houses with rooms filled with death, poverty, sickness, stagnation, backwardness.

The kingdom or city of light has wonderful mansions filled with riches, wellness, favour, honor.

3.

Marriage means a change of destiny. Formerly your destiny was defined in terms of yourself and a certain eternity of fire and brimstone with a fellow with a tail and a pitchfork and funny long ears!

Now your destiny is defined by eternal glory with happiness surrounded by abundance, beautiful scenery and the lack of sickness and death.

4.

A married woman has new responsibilities. Before, as an undecided single woman she was a carefree woman, not knowing how to receive a suitor. She is easily blown by the advances of various suitors, like, fornication, careless dressing, partying, and revelry.

Now she is defined by the need to always be presentable to her husband, to provide for His needs and desires.

Before marriage to Christ a person was not expected to subject him/herself to the tenets of being a Christian, like fellowship with other brethren, follow-up on sinners and new converts, paying of tithes and offerings to drive the work of the kingdom. Now as a wife, these responsibilities are thrust on Mrs Jesus.

A newly married woman, is usually in a hurry to become a mother to give birth to children and exhibit the joys of motherhood.

Mrs Jesus is also expected to give birth to new Mrs Jesuses, who will take on the same traits and DNA of their mother. Yes you are expected to gave and preach the news of the coming of the bridegroom to as many as possible.

So how many of us are actually leaving as proper wives this morning? Some of us married and divorced Jesus many years ago. We have started chasing after our former boyfriend, in fact some have already started committing adultery with him again.

Some of us are past the age of marriage but we are still enjoying the romance with Mr Lucifer. We are not even thinking of marriage, we are too comfortable with the life of sin and we think I can marry whenever I feel like.

Jesus is saying that is not the case.

(Matthew 25:1-13)

Hebrews 9:27, 28 says its is appointed for man to die once, then comes judgement. Christ was offered once to bear the sins of many. To those who are ready to marry Him, He will appear a second time, apart from sin, for all salvation.

If you want to give your life to Jesus now, just kneel down where you are and pray a simple prayer; ‘Lord today, I acknowledge that I am a sinner and I have fallen short of your Glory. Accept me into your kingdom today and make me born again. Cleanse me from my sins today and write down my name in the book of light. Thank you heavenly father. In Jesus name I have prayed. Amen!
