Summary: This message deals with the idea that we in the body of Christ have to stop being worked on so we can do the work!

MOVING FROM BOOTCAMP TO THE BATTLEFIELD JOSHUA 1:2-18

BE DECISIVE (v 2-6)

(v2)

- You cannot live in the past - God has given you an assignment; make a decision based on where you’re going, not where you’ve been - Make a decision based on where God is taking you

(v3-4)

- You’ve got to know that God’s promises are sure - God’s promises are based on His Will, not your personality

(v5-6)

- God not only promises provision, but he promises protection - His promise is activated by your faith in Him

BE DISCIPLINED (v 7-13)

(v7-8)

- Victory on the battlefield requires complete obedience - Any deviation can bring forfeiture of the prize - God is not a “God of compromise”

(v9) “Have not I commanded you? Be strong, vigorous, and very courageous…” ([He says it 3 times [v 6, 7, &9])

(v10-13)

- Notice the specifics of the instructions… - Prepare your provisions, for within three days you shall pass over this Jordan to go in to take possession of the land which the Lord your God is giving you to possess. (v11)

BE DETERMINED (v 14-17)

(14-16) - Don’t allow the details to derail you from reaching the prize that God has for you - Determination will lead to domination - Make a visible as well as verbal commitment to follow through with God’s instruction (lip service won’t work anymore…)

(v17)

- Because of their Decision, Discipline, and Determination, they were able to experience victory in their battle - Because they didn’t get caught up in the leadership change and followed through with the instructions of God… - When you put your trust in the plan and not in the person, you will have victory

(v18)

- Not only were they determined to follow God’s plan to the letter, but they also made up in their minds not the let haters stop them! - (I’m through…) If you’re going to win the battle, you’ve got to learn to eliminate the haters in your life… (Not w/ weapons, but w/ your praise…! (2 Cor 10:4) “for demolishing that entire massively corrupt culture” (MSG)
