VIII. MAIN BODY:

A. The land of Moriah was first called "The LORD will provide"

"So Abraham called the name of that place The Lord Will Provide."

It was not specifically mentioned that the sacrifice was commanded by GOD to happened in Mount Moriah, but it was on one of the mountains on the land of Moriah.

Genesis 22:2 (Contemporary English Version)

The LORD said, "Go get Isaac, your only son, the one you dearly love! Take him to the land of Moriah, and I will show you a mountain where you must sacrifice him to me on the fires of an altar."

That land was called "Jehovahjireh", from the Hebrew word: "yehovah yireh" meaning: (the vowels were provided for readability)

1. Jehovah will see

2. a symbolical name for Mt. Moriah

soon it became common that it was the Mt. Moriah, not the land of Moriah.

Genesis 22:8 (The Message)

22:8 Abraham said, "Son, God will see to it that there's a sheep for the burnt offering." And they kept on walking together.

Genesis 22:13 (The Message)

22:13 Abraham looked up. He saw a ram caught by its horns in the thicket. Abraham took the ram and sacrificed it as a burnt offering instead of his son.

Long before the New Covenant came, the LORD has been known as Jehovah Jirei, meaning the LORD, our Provider.

B. It is said to this day, On the mount of the LORD it will be provided

"And it is said to this day, On the mount of the Lord it will be provided."

Until this day, we magnify the LORD as the mountain of Providence and not the problem as the mountain, but we command the mountain to be cast to the sea.

Matthew 21:21 (The Message)

21:21 But Jesus was matter-of-fact: "Yes—and if you embrace this kingdom life and don't doubt God, you'll not only do minor feats like I did to the fig tree, but also triumph over huge obstacles. This mountain, for instance, you'll tell, 'Go jump in the lake,' and it will jump.

1 Timothy 3:16 (Amplified Bible)

3:16 And great and important and weighty, we confess, is the hidden truth (the mystic secret) of godliness. He [God] was made visible in human flesh, justified and vindicated in the [Holy] Spirit, was seen by angels, preached among the nations, believed on in the world, [and] taken up in glory.

Psalms 22:4-5 (Amplified Bible)

22:4 Our fathers trusted in You; they trusted (leaned on, relied on You, and were confident) and You delivered them.

22:5 They cried to You and were delivered; they trusted in, leaned on, and confidently relied on You, and were not ashamed or confounded or disappointed.

Of course, we can't list all the things GOD has provided for us, but to be quick about it, GOD have provided the following for us:

1. Earth

Genesis 1:9 (Amplified Bible)

1:9 And God said, Let the waters under the heavens be collected into one place [of standing], and let the dry land appear. And it was so.

2. Seas

Genesis 1:10 (Amplified Bible)

1:10 God called the dry land Earth, and the accumulated waters He called Seas. And God saw that this was good (fitting, admirable) and He approved it.

3. Light

Genesis 1:3 (Amplified Bible)

1:3 And God said, Let there be light; and there was light.

4. Heavens

Genesis 1:1 (Amplified Bible)

1:1 IN THE beginning God (prepared, formed, fashioned, and) created the heavens and the earth.

5. Food

Genesis 1:11 (Amplified Bible)

1:11 And God said, Let the earth put forth [tender] vegetation: plants yielding seed and fruit trees yielding fruit whose seed is in itself, each according to its kind, upon the earth. And it was so.
