“Mottos of our Military” Matthew 25:1-13

The church has had mottos to Open minds, open hearts, open doors, we belong to God, We are to be filled with God, and we are to serve God

• US. army “This we’ll Defend ,US Marines “Always Faithful”

• US Navy “Not Self But Country”,US Air Force “ Aim High Fly Fight Win”

• US Space Force “Always Above”, US Coast Guard “Always Ready”

1. We are thankful to our service personnel for all they did and do to keep us safe and free they are always in a state of readiness.

• In our text let’s look at what Jesus refers to how the coming Kingdom will look like He says, 25 “Then the kingdom of heaven will be like this.

• He compares the readiness of an individual like wise and foolish folks

• Ten young women[a] who took their lamps and went to meet the bridegroom.[b] 2 Five of them were foolish, and five were wise. 3 When the foolish took their lamps, they took no oil with them, 4 but the wise took flasks of oil with their lamps.

• In order to be ready maybe our motto should be “Bring The oil”

• Don’t be foolish bring the oil be wise bring the oil, in-football bring the heat on the quarterback, bring lunch bucket we’re going to work today, For Christians bring the Faith, bring the hope, bring along the trust in Jesus, bring the faithfulness

2. Maybe another Motto for the Christian, could be “Keep Awake”

• Jesus said in the text, “As the bridegroom was delayed; all of them became drowsy and slept. 6 But at midnight there was a shout, ‘Look! Here is the bridegroom! Come out to meet him.’ “Therefore, stay awake, the lord is coming for you do not know on what day your Lord is coming.”

• “But stay awake at all times, praying that you may have strength to escape all these things that are going to take place, and to stand before the Son of Man.”

• “For anything that becomes visible is light. Therefore it says, “Awake, O sleeper, and arise from the dead, and Christ will shine on you.””

• “Be always on the watch, and pray that you may be able to escape all that is about to happen, and that you may be able to stand before the Son of Man.”

• These verses encourage people to be spiritually awake and alert, to be prepared for the coming of the Lord, and to be ready to face the challenges of life. They also emphasize the importance of prayer and seeking wisdom from God.

3. Yet, another Motto could be “Be at work”

• May be Jesus here wants us be constantly working on the building Build on the rock not sinking sand

• But at midnight there was a shout, ‘Look! Here is the bridegroom! Come out to meet him.’ 7

• John Wesley told us to Do. Do all the good you can, Do Good by all the means you can, Do Good in all the ways you can, Do Good in all the places you can,Do Good at all the times you can, Do Good to all the people you can, Do Good as long as ever you can.

4. The final Motto for the redeemed could be Lets remain alert

• If a veteran is not alert he or she may perish remain alert can mean life or death

• Be ready. Be aware. Be in a state of readiness, Keep awake Be at work Remain alert ”

• If A blizzard comes you may need a shovel get ready

• If a your phone battery is low be aware you may need to charge it before leaving for work

• We are in a state of readiness for our home children etc are we in a mind state of readiness for the 2nd coming

• Let’s be at work. I am working on a building on the building the temple the me

5. Our armed forces are always ready and Jesus wants us to be ready not just for the hour but for my soul

• Jesus tells the folks get ready the end is coming Jesus tells everyone who will listen that the temple will be reduced to rubble

• He is muttering about signs of the end of the world. He says that false prophets will arise, persecution will be rampant and that friends will betray one another.

• Things will be so bad that the public will head for the hills wishing they’d never been born

• There will be amazing and horrifying meteor showers and “the powers of heaven will be shaken” (24:29).

• And in that moment … in that very moment, human destiny will be decided. For “all the tribes of the earth will … see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of heaven with power and great glory.
