Mothers In The Bible

Ex 20: 12 "Honor your father and your mother, that your days may be prolonged in the land which the LORD your God gives you.

Ex 21: 15 "He who strikes his father or his mother shall surely be put to death.

Ex 21: 17 "He who curses his father or his mother shall surely be put to death.

Psalm 139: 13 You made all of the delicate, inner parts of my body and knit me together in my mother’s womb.

Proverbs 1: 8 Hear, my son, your father's instruction And do not forsake your mother's teaching.

Proverbs 6:20 - My son, observe the commandment of your father And do not forsake the teaching of your mother;

Proverbs 10:1 - The proverbs of Solomon. A wise son makes a father glad, But a foolish son is a grief to his mother.

Proverbs 11:16 A kindhearted woman gains respect.

Proverbs 14:1 The wise woman builds her house, but with her own hands the foolish one tears hers down.

Proverbs 15:20 - A wise son makes a father glad, But a foolish man despises his mother.

Proverbs 19:26 - He who assaults his father and drives his mother away Is a shameful and disgraceful son.

Proverbs 20:20 - He who curses his father or his mother, His lamp will go out in time of darkness.

Proverbs 22:6 Teach your children to choose the right path, and when they are older, they will remain upon it.

Proverbs 23:22 - Listen to your father who begot (similar to made) you, and do not despise (hate) your mother when she is old.

Proverbs 23:25 May she who gave you birth be happy.

Proverbs 28:24 - He who robs his father or his mother And says, "It is not a transgression," Is the companion of a man who destroys.

Proverbs 29:15 - The rod and reproof give wisdom, But a child who gets his own way brings shame to his mother.

Dr. Dobson wrote “The spanking may be too gentle. If it doesn't hurt, it doesn't motivate a child to avoid the consequence next time. A slap with the hand on the bottom of a multi-diapered thirty-month-old is not a deterrent to anything. Proverbs 30:11 - There is a kind of man who curses his father And does not bless his mother.

Proverbs 30:17 - The eye that mocks a father And scorns a mother, The ravens of the valley will pick it out, And the young eagles will eat it.

Matthew 10:35, 37 "For I came to SET A MAN AGAINST HIS FATHER, AND A DAUGHTER AGAINST HER MOTHER, AND A DAUGHTER-IN-LAW AGAINST HER MOTHER-IN-LAW; "He who loves father or mother more than Me is not worthy of Me; and he who loves son or daughter more than Me is not worthy of Me. “

Matthew 19:29 - "And everyone who has left houses or brothers or sisters or father or mother or children or farms for My name's sake, will receive many times as much, and will inherit eternal life. Since we have left our Families to serve the Lord here, we will be blessed. This is NOT getting at working our way into heaven. Ephesians 2: 8, 9 states “By grace you have been saved through faith; and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God; not as a result of works, that no one should boast.”

The following story is told in Matthew, Mark and Luke. These are interesting statements of Christ’s. Does it mean those who don’t do the Word aren’t His relatives?

Matthew 12:46 - 50 While He was still speaking to the crowds, behold, His mother and brothers were standing outside, seeking to speak to Him. Someone said to Him, "Behold, Your mother and Your brothers are standing outside seeking to speak to Him. But Jesus answered the one who was telling Him and said, "Who is My mother and who are My brothers?" And stretching out His hand toward His disciples, He said, "Behold My mother and My brothers! "For whoever does the will of My Father who is in heaven, he is My brother and sister and mother."

Mark 3: 31 Then His mother and His brothers arrived, and standing outside they sent word to Him and called Him. 32 A crowd was sitting around Him, and they said to Him, "Behold, Your mother and Your brothers are outside looking for You." 33 Answering them, He said, "Who are My mother and My brothers?" 34 Looking about at those who were sitting around Him, He said, "Behold My mother and My brothers! 35 "For whoever does the will of God, he is My brother and sister and mother."
