More Than A Prayer (9) - "deliver Us From Evil"

TEXT: Matthew 6:13

"And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen."

GOD IS ABLE TO DELIVER FROM ALL EVILS AND BONDAGE

The Lord's prayer is much more than a prayer guide, it points us to who God is. Our father is the Almighty God, the creator of all things. Principalities and powers are subject to him. Our father in heaven is able to deliver us from all forms of evil. "He shall deliver thee in six troubles: yea, in seven there shall no evil touch thee" (Job 5:19). The Lord will arise and deliver you from every evil bondage in Jesus name.

THE BONDAGE OF SIN

The greatest bondage in life is the bondage of sin. The end result of sin is death (Jam 1:15). There is only one deliverer that can set people free from enslavement of sin. The name of that one saviour is Jesus, the only begotten of God. "Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved" (Acts 4:12).

OUR FATHER IS THE GREATEST DELIVERER

Our heavenly father is the great deliverer (Psalms 18:2). All evil powers are under his control. He triumphed over them and made a public show of their defeat on the cross through Jesus (Col 2:15). As long as the children of God flee from all appearances of evil, the one who rules over powers of darkness is able to deliver them. "Shall the prey be taken from the mighty, or the lawful captive delivered? But thus saith the LORD, Even the captives of the mighty shall be taken away, and the prey of the terrible shall be delivered: for I will contend with him that contendeth with thee, and I will save thy children" (Isa 49:24-25). No one can deliver from God's hand but God can deliver from the hand of every captor, even the most terrible. The Lord will contend against those who contend with you and deliver you with his mighty right hand in Jesus name.

EXAMPLE OF GOD'S DELIVERANCE

King Sennacherib of Assyria boasted that no god can deliver any nation from his hand, he taunted Hezekiah and the children of Israel but God turned his soldiers to corpses and his own children murdered him (Isa 37: 34-38). Hear what your heavenly father says concerning:

"Though a thousand fall at your side, though ten thousand are dying around you, these evils will not touch you. No evil will conquer you;, no plague will come near your home (Psalms 91:7,10). Our heavenly father is able to deliver us from evil plans and evil powers and people. No evil shall come near you or your family in Jesus name.

PRAYER:

Our father in heaven, deliver me from the scheme of evil men in Jesus name.

DECREE:

The great deliverer is my father.
