Summary: Paul gives us more opportunities.

Opportunity To Work

Verse 4-5-But let each one examine his own work, and then he will have rejoicing in himself alone, and not in another (NKJV)

Verse 4-5-Be sure to do what you should, for then you will enjoy the personal satisfaction of having done your work well, and you won't need to compare yourself to anyone else. For we are each responsible for our own conduct. (NLT)

We should all work, it doesn’t mean you have to go and find a job, but it does mean, that every able person should be doing something.

There is a time to rest and there is a time to work

Whether it at a job you get paid to do, or a hobby, or repairs around the house, or someone else’s house or at church. (There is always something that needs to be done around here!!)

We should take pride in our work, whether we are working for ourselves or someone else!

Your job is as important as anybody else, you shouldn’t compare what you do to what someone else does or you shouldn’t compare how they do it, to how you do it.

That person who is putting on the brakes in a assembly line, is just as important as the person who is putting in the motor, that car may run good, but it ain’t going to last long without brakes!!!

Opportunity To Bless

Verse 6-Let him who is taught the word share in all good things with him who teaches (NKJV)

Verse 6-Those who are taught the word of God should help their teachers by paying them. (NLT)

I believe this with all my heart, that when you pay the preacher, you are really helping yourself!

I believe there is a special blessing on God’s man, His Anointed and He (God) will bless those who bless him and He (God) will curse those who curse him.

Tina and I have seen God do both!

Now the question is, “Are you sharing all the good things God has bless you with?”

This not my idea, this is not even Paul’s idea, this is God’s idea!

God doesn’t need you to bless the pastor, but He gives you a opportunity to be a part of it!

There is other ways to pay the pastor too!

1-Pay him with respect

2-Pay him with compliment

3-Pay him with appreciation

Opportunity To Reap

Verse 7-8-Do not be deceived, God is not mocked; for whatever a man sows, that he will also reap. For he who sows to his flesh will of the flesh reap corruption, but he who sows to the Spirit will of the Spirit reap everlasting life (NKJV)

Verse 7-8-Don't be misled. Remember that you can't ignore God and get away with it. You will always reap what you sow! Those who live only to satisfy their own sinful desires will harvest the consequences of decay and death. But those who live to please the Spirit will harvest everlasting life from the Spirit. (NLT)

Most people are sowing there wild oats and then praying for a crop failure!!

You sow-Unhealthy food choices (No matter how good they taste)

You will reap-Health problems, weight problems (It may take a while to show up)

You sow-Tartness, being absent, sloppy work

You will reap-Loss of job

You sow-Adultery, neglect, or verbal or physical abuse

You will reap-A divorce

You sow-Late payments, no payments

You will reap-A repossession

The list goes on!!

Opportunity To Do Good

Verse 9-And let us not grow weary while doing good, for in due season we shall reap if we do not lose heart. (NKJV)

Verse 9-So don't get tired of doing what is good. Don't get discouraged and give up, for we will reap a harvest of blessing at the appropriate time. (NLT)

Continue to do good, even if you don’t see the affects of it, or the impact of it, because…

There Is A Payday Someday!!!

Opportunity To Help

Verse 10-Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all, especially to those who are of the household of faith. (NKJV)

Verse 10-Whenever we have the opportunity, we should do good to everyone, especially to our Christian brothers and sisters. (NLT)

We need to help all we can, whenever we can!!

We need to make sure that we are helping the household of faith, that’s helping each other, and that’s helping other Christians!

We can’t rely on the government to do it, we can’t rely on the world to do it, we have to rely on each other, if we want change in this world, then we have to help those organizations that are help making those changes we want to see, we have to support them financially, and with prayers, and encouragement !!

This is the time to be doing more for the Lord, if the disciples thought they were living in the last hours, then we are living in the last minutes of those last hours!!
