MISSIONS

TEXT: Ex 3:2-10, Jere 1: 4-8, Mt 28: 18-20

As the Bible says Go yea therefore and teach all nations baptizing them in the name of the father and of the son and of the Holy Ghost, teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you and lo, I am with you always even unto the end of the world. Amen. Matthew 28:19-20 - there are many language groups that have not heard the gospel. Cultures where the church is not yet established. There are remote villages where the gospel has not been preached nor church built. Mission field is

suffering today, Romans 8: 19-21

WHAT IS MISSION? Somebody may be asking in his heart, what is mission?

Mission and the church are between a missionary and an evangelists. In a simple explanatory definition, mission is a specialized work, or a task or assignment given to a disciple with a message to fulfil the plans and the purposes of God. A missionary is the sent one. It is a disciple sent out by God or by the church with a message of salvation to a new place, culture and language, with the goal to make converts,

establish a church. He crosses his own culture, people and language to entirely new place. A church is like a reformatory where sinners are brought to be reformed and transformed. Romans 12:2. Heb 10:7

1. EXPRESS COMMAND TO DISCIPLES "GO": Mark 16:15, Mala 1:11, Matt 24:14, Acts l6:9

God gave express commission. This is the reason for the existence of the church in these last days to preach the word in all villages, towns, and nations,

Christians are saved for mission. A church without vision for mission, cannot have God's continual perpetual presence Matt 28:20b, since she will not be doing the perfect will of God.

2. THE VISION FOR MISSION: Prov 29:1 8, Lamentation 2:9, 14, Isaiah 6:8

The vision for mission is broken into seven areas.

a. Vision of God suffering people Ex 3:1-3 a vision of God's suffering and image of God.

b. A vision of heaven Rev 5:12

c. A fresh vision of the ultimate collapse of earthly kingdom. Dan 2:31-45

d. Vision of the multitude to hell. Matt 9:36

e. A vision of the judgement day. Rev 20:11

f. A Vision of self. Isa 6:5 -6

g. Is not His will that any should perish but that all should come to repentance. 2Peter 3:9

Mission includes everything the church is to do in the world (including the cultural

mandate of Gen 1:28) while evangelism is only calling of people to faith in Christ.
