Missed Opportunities
“When a great moment knocks on the door of your life, it is often no louder than the beating of your heart, and it is very easy to miss it. ” - Unknown
Revelation 3:8 - I know your works. See, I have set before you an open door, and no one can shut it; for you have a little strength, have kept My word, and have not denied My name.
There are many enemies of your future that will cause you to miss divine opportunities.
Missed opportunities can mean missing your divine destiny.
Here are some reasons why Christians miss opportunities.
1. Lack of respect
Genesis 25:31-32 - But Jacob said, "Sell me your birthright as of this day." And Esau said, "Look, I am about to die; so what is this birthright to me?"
2. Lack of action
Exodus 8:1-2 - And the LORD spoke to Moses, "Go to Pharaoh and say to him, 'Thus says the LORD: "Let My people go, that they may serve Me. But if you refuse to let them go, behold, I will smite all your territory with frogs.
3. Greed
Matthew 26:14-15 - Then one of the twelve, called Judas Iscariot, went to the chief priests and said, "What are you willing to give me if I deliver Him to you?" And they counted out to him thirty pieces of silver.
4. Career minded
Matthew 19:21 - Jesus said to him, "If you want to be perfect, go, sell what you have and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven; and come, follow Me." But when the young man heard that saying, he went away sorrowful, for he had great possessions.
5. Procrastination
James 4:13-14 - Come now, you who say, "Today or tomorrow we will go to such and such a city, spend a year there, buy and sell, and make a profit"; whereas you do not know what will happen tomorrow. For what is your life? It is even a vapor that appears for a little time and then vanishes away.
6. Wrong mind-set
Jeremiah 1:5-6 – “Before I formed you in the womb I knew you; Before you were born I sanctified you; I ordained you a prophet to the nations." Then said I: "Ah, Lord GOD! Behold, I cannot speak, for I am a youth."
These are the opportunities you have – don’t miss out on them:
• Your youth
• Your marriage partner
• Your children
• Your family
• Your calling
• Your church
In order to grown in the Lord, allow the Holy Spirit to transform you.
Remember, the difference between success and failure can be a missed opportunity.
Luke 13:6-9 - He also spoke this parable: "A certain man had a fig tree planted in his vineyard, and he came seeking fruit on it and found none. Then he said to the keeper of his vineyard, 'Look, for three years I have come seeking fruit on this fig tree and find none. Cut it down; why does it use up the ground?' But he answered and said to him, 'Sir, let it alone this year also, until I dig around it and fertilize it. And if it bears fruit, well. But if not, after that you can cut it down.' "
