Summary: It seems so simple, but in the case of these two women, one very young and one very old, one touch from Jesus made all the difference.
Matthew 9:18-26-While He spoke these things to them, behold, a ruler came and worshiped Him, saying, “My daughter has just died, but come and lay Your hand on her and she will live.” So Jesus arose and followed him, and so did His disciples.
And suddenly, a woman who had a flow of blood for twelve years came from behind and touched the hem of His garment.
For she said to herself, “If only I may touch His garment, I shall be made well.”
But Jesus turned around, and when He saw her He said, “Be of good cheer, daughter; your faith has made you well.” And the woman was made well from that hour. When Jesus came into the ruler’s house, and saw the flute players and the noisy crowd wailing, He said to them, “Make room, for the girl is not dead, but sleeping.” And they ridiculed Him. But when the crowd was put outside, He went in and took her by the hand, and the girl arose. And the report of this went out into all that land.
Your Faith Has Made You Well-The King James Version says…Thy Faith Hath Made Thee Whole.
Not only was she healed physically, but also spiritually!
When you receive something from God, you always get more than you ask for, more than you expect!
She got a new family…The family of God!
She got a new home….Heaven eternal!
She got a new purpose….She wasn’t spending all her time, all her money, all her effort, on looking for a cure, for her sickness!
If you’ve reached the place where all other remedies have failed, all other means have exhausted themselves and you need help right now, I want to invite you to come to Jesus!
Ridiculed-Mocking laughter, behavior, or comments.
It’s amazing how Satan uses people to mock, ridicule, make rude comments, either towards God’s work or God’s people even to point attacking verbally or physically.
In the Bible, death is referred to differently than how we normally refer to it.
John 11:4-When Jesus heard that, He said, “This sickness is not unto death, but for the glory of God, that the Son of God may be glorified through it.”
John 11:11-These things He said, and after that He said to them, “Our friend Lazarus sleeps, but I go that I may wake him up.”
Acts 7-59-60-And they stoned Stephen as he was calling on God and saying, “Lord Jesus, receive my spirit.” Then he knelt down and cried out with a loud voice, “Lord, do not charge them with this sin.” And when he had said this, he fell asleep.
1 Corinthians 15:20-But now Christ is risen from the dead, and has become the first fruits of those who have fallen asleep.
1 Thessalonians 4:13-18-But I do not want you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning those who have fallen asleep, lest you sorrow as others who have no hope.
For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so God will bring with Him those who sleep in Jesus.
For this we say to you by the word of the Lord, that we who are alive and remain until the coming of the Lord will by no means precede those who are asleep.
For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of an archangel, and with the trumpet of God. And the dead in Christ will rise first.
Then we who are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And thus we shall always be with the Lord.
Therefore comfort one another with these words.
They all reveal that, for the believer, death is equal to sleeping.
Our physical bodies go to sleep to be later, resurrected, while our souls go immediately to be with the Lord.
We all may have to deal with another form of death, beside the physical death!
The Death Of A Job…Cut backs, Laid off, Fired
The Death Of A Marriage…Strangers living in the house (Grown apart), Intimacy problems, Communications issues!
The Death Of Finances…Spending, more than your making, Debt!
But no matter what is dying in our life, when to bring our prayer request, bring our problems, and cry out to Jesus!
Come into my marriage! Come into my finances! Come into my job!
It seems so simple, but in the case of these two women, one very young and one very old, one touch from Jesus made all the difference.
What would happen if you reached out and touched someone today?
