Millennium 1,000 Years Lesson 5 Series

“Then I saw an angel . . . seized the dragon—that old serpent, who is the devil, satan—and bound him in chains for a thousand years. The angel threw him into the bottomless pit, which he then shut and locked so satan could not deceive the nations anymore until the thousand years were finished. Afterward he must be released for a little while. Then I saw thrones, and the people sitting on them had been given the authority to judge. And I saw the souls of those who had been beheaded for their testimony about Jesus . . . they had not worshiped the beast . . . they all came to life again, and they reigned with Christ for a thousand years” (Rev. 20:1-4, NLT)

A. INTRODUCTION

1. What are the events that happen after Christ returns to earth?

a. The armies gathered against Israel and Jerusalem are destroyed (Rev. 19:17-21).

b. The antichrist and false prophets are casted into hell (Rev. 19:20).

c. The regathering, regenerating and restoring of Israel (Matt. 24:31).

d. To judge the sheep and goats (Matt. 25:31-46), i.e., to judge the nations.

e. To bind satan and cast him into the bottomless pit (Rev. 20:1-3).

f. The resurrection of Old Testament and tribulational saints (Rev. 20:4-5).

2. What is the meaning of and the various views regarding the Millennium?

a. Amillennialism – no millennium, it is symbol of coming peace.

b. Postmillennialism – world will become progressively better until perfection.

c. Premillennialism – civilization will become progressively evil until Christ returns to judge evil and reward His people.

3. What kind of bodies will people have during the Millennium?

a. Glorified bodies like the raptured saints (1 Cor. 15:51-53).

b. Bodies that will be ageless. “Blessed and holy are those who share in the first resurrection. For them the second death holds no power, but they will be priests of God and of Christ and will reign with him a thousand years” (Rev. 20:6, NLT).

4. What are some reasons for the Millennium?

a. To reward the saints of God.

b. To answer the oft-prayed model prayer, “Thy kingdom come.”

c. To redeem and restore all creation.

d. To fulfill three all-important Old Testament covenants:

1) The Abrahamic Covenant.

2) The Davidic Covenant.

3) The New Covenant.

5. Describe life during the Millennium.

a. Universal knowledge (Isa. 11:9; Hab. 2:14).

b. Universal language (Zeph. 3:9).

c. Freedom from wars (Isa. 2:4; Zech. 9:8, 14:11-19).

d. Peace (Isa. 11:6-9).

e. Universal justice (Ex. 34:23-31).

6. What are some characteristics of the Millennium?

a. Peace.

b. Great knowledge.

c. Removal of the curse.

d. Health and happiness.

e. Unified language and worship.

7. Will children be born during the Millennium? “And the streets of the city shall be full of boys and girls playing in the streets thereof” (Zech. 8:5).

Dear Lord, I acknowledge that I am a sinner. I believe Jesus died for my sins on the cross, and rose again the third day. I repent of my sins. By faith I receive the Lord Jesus as my Savior. You promised to save me, and I believe You, because You are God and cannot lie. I believe right now that the Lord Jesus is my personal Savior, and that all my sins are forgiven through His precious blood. I thank You, dear Lord, for saving me. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
