Encourage believers to be courageous leaders by relying not on their own strength, but on the strength and power of God to accomplish the impossible.

Introduction

Good morning, brothers and sisters!

It's such a blessing to be in the house of the Lord, standing shoulder to shoulder with each one of you today. We're going to dive right into a topic that's near and dear to my heart, and that's God's call to courageous leadership, the power of men's fellowship, and standing firm in the Lord's strength.

Today's message is coming from Ephesians 6:10, where Paul encourages us,

"Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power."

It's not about our strength or our courage, but about His.

In the words of Rev. David Weyrick, "God can even give you the strength to keep going within those difficult situations. God calls us to maintain our faith and integrity and we respond by trusting in Him." Let that sink in for a moment. God seeks to give us strength through everything; all we need to do is step up and answer His call.

Let's start with a prayer.

Dear Heavenly Father, we thank you for your love, your mercy, and your strength. We ask that you open our hearts and minds today to receive your word, to understand your calling, and to stand firm in your strength. Help us to be courageous leaders, not just in our churches, but in our communities and our homes. In Jesus' name, we pray, Amen.

Let's get started, shall we?

God's Call to Courageous Leadership

God's call to courageous leadership is a call that beckons us to step out of our comfort zones, to rise above our fears and insecurities, and to lead with conviction, integrity, and unwavering faith.

The definition: When we think of courageous leadership, we often think of individuals who are bold, assertive, and fearless. However, in the context of God's kingdom, courageous leadership takes on a different hue. It's not about being the loudest voice in the room or the most dominant personality. Instead, it's about leading with humility, love, and a steadfast commitment to God's word. It's about standing firm in the face of opposition, not because we are strong, but because we serve a God who is stronger than any challenge we may face.

Biblical examples: Consider Moses, who despite his initial reluctance and self-doubt, led the Israelites out of Egypt. Or think about Esther, who risked her life to save her people. And let's not forget about David, who as a young shepherd boy, defeated the mighty Goliath. These individuals were not extraordinary in their own right. They were ordinary people, just like you and me, who answered God's call to courageous leadership.

In our day-to-day lives: How do we answer God's call to courageous leadership? Firstly, it involves stepping out in faith, even when the path ahead is unclear. It's about trusting in God's plan and purpose for our lives, even when we can't see the bigger picture. Secondly, it involves standing up for what is right, even when it's unpopular or inconvenient. This could mean speaking out against injustice, defending the truth of the gospel, or making ethical decisions that align with our Christian values. Lastly, it involves leading by example, demonstrating Christ-like love, compassion, and integrity in all that we do.

Not just for pastors, missionaries, or church leaders: It's a call for all believers. Whether you're a teacher, a doctor, a parent, a student, or a business owner, God is calling you to lead courageously in your sphere of influence. He's calling you to be a beacon of light in a world that is often shrouded in darkness. He's calling you to be a voice of hope in a world that is desperate for hope.

Not easy: It's a journey fraught with challenges, setbacks, and moments of doubt. But it's also a journey filled with incredible growth, deepened faith, and the joy of seeing God work in and through us in ways we could never have imagined.

Pastor, here would be a good place to share a personal story about how you came into a leadership position and how it has affected your faith. You could also talk about how God has been guiding you through it.
