Summary: The Word of God has many places where we are challenged to REMEMBER. I have list six of them.

MEMORIES ARE MADE OF THIS

1 Cor. 11:23-26

T/S I BELIEVE THAT THE WORD OF GOD TEACH US TO REMEMBER CERTAIN THINGS. THERE ARE PROBABLY MANY MORE THAT COULD BE NAMED BUT FOR THE SAKE OF TIME WE WILL LOOK AT SIX THINGS WE NEED TO REMEMBER.

I. REMEMBER WHO WE ARE: Eccl 12:1 Remember now thy Creator in the days of thy youth, while the evil days come not, nor the years draw nigh, when thou shalt say, I have no pleasure in them;

A. We need to remember who we are. I am a creation of a Holy God. I am made in His likeness. I am everything He wants me to be only limited by sin. I am important because God made me - loves me.

II. REMEMBER WHERE WE CAME FROM:

Exo 13:3 And Moses said unto the people, Remember this day, in which ye came out from Egypt, out of the house of bondage; for by strength of hand the LORD brought you out from this place: there shall no leavened bread be eaten.

Deu 5:15 And remember that thou wast a servant in the land of Egypt, and that the LORD thy God brought thee out thence through a mighty hand and by a stretched out arm: . . .

My condition was like that of The children of Israel in Egypt. In slavery; hopelessly in bitter bondage. Living in squalor. A slave to sin and its desires. No one was going to help.

(Eph 2:1-4 And you hath he quickened, who were dead in trespasses and sins: Wherein in time past ye walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that now worketh in the children of disobedience: Among whom also we all had our conversation in times past in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind; and were by nature the children of wrath, even as others.

III. REMEMBER HOW WE GOT HERE:

Rev 3:3 Remember therefore how thou hast received and heard, and hold fast, and repent. If therefore thou shalt not watch, I will come on thee as a thief, and thou shalt not know what hour I will come upon thee.

THE TEXT: Isn’t that what the Lord’s Supper is all about. Remembering what Jesus Did for us???

IV. REMEMBER WHERE WE ARE:

Now is the accepted day: {

Eph 2:4 -6 But God, who is rich in mercy, for his great love wherewith he loved us, Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved; And hath raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus:

THERE IS A REAL CAUTION WE MUST INTERJECT AT THIS POINT.

Jude 1:5 I will therefore put you in remembrance, though ye once knew this, how that the Lord, having saved the people out of the land of Egypt, afterward destroyed them that believed not.

Now is the accepted day: {It not only works for salvation from sin but day by day}

WE NEED TO LOOK AHEAD WITH ANTICIPATION:

1. LOOK AHEAD TO THE OPPORTUNITIES WE WILL HAVE.

Look ahead to where we are going.

Eph 2:7-9 That in the ages to come he might show the exceeding riches of his grace in his kindness toward us through Christ Jesus. For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast.

Look ahead to our responsibilities.

A. My responsibility is to my God. (Most of All) Isn’t that want the Lord Supper is all about.

B. My responsibility is to my fellow man.

Acts 20:35 I have showed you all things, how that so laboring ye ought to support the weak, and to remember the words of the Lord Jesus, how he said, It is more blessed to give than to receive.

Mat 5:23 Therefore if thou bring thy gift to the altar, and there rememberest that thy brother hath ought against thee;

C. My responsibility is to know and do the Word of God.

2 Tim 2:14-15 Of these things put them in remembrance, charging them before the Lord that they strive not about words to no profit, but to the subverting of the hearers. Study to show thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.
