VIII. MAIN BODY:

A. Melchizedek, not belonging to Levites, received tithes from Abraham

"But this person who has not their Levitical ancestry received tithes from Abraham [himself]"

Hebrews 7:4 (Amplified Bible)

7:4 Now observe and consider how great [a personage] this was to whom even Abraham the patriarch gave a tenth [the topmost or the pick of the heap] of the spoils.

Genesis 14:19-20 (Amplified Bible)

14:19 And he blessed him and said, Blessed (favored with blessings, made blissful, joyful) be Abram by God Most High, Possessor and Maker of heaven and earth,

14:20 And blessed, praised, and glorified be God Most High, Who has given your foes into your hand! And [Abram] gave him a tenth of all [he had taken].

Melchizedek, no ancestral line, no tribe recorded, yet received tithes from Abraham. Abraham chooses to pay his tithes to Melchizedek, recognizing His Greatness and authority.

Hebrews 7:3 (Amplified Bible)

7:3 Without [record of] father or mother or ancestral line, neither with beginning of days nor ending of life, but, resembling the Son of God, he continues to be a priest without interruption and without successor.

B. Melchizedek blessed Abraham who possessed GOD's promises

"and blessed him who possessed the promises [of God]."

Hebrews 6:13-15 (Amplified Bible)

6:13 For when God made [His] promise to Abraham, He swore by Himself, since He had no one greater by whom to swear,

6:14 Saying, Blessing I certainly will bless you and multiplying I will multiply you.

6:15 And so it was that he [Abraham], having waited long and endured patiently, realized and obtained [in the birth of Isaac as a pledge of what was to come] what God had promised him.

Genesis 12:2 (Amplified Bible)

12:2 And I will make of you a great nation, and I will bless you [with abundant increase of favors] and make your name famous and distinguished, and you will be a blessing [dispensing good to others].

Romans 4:13 (Amplified Bible)

4:13 For the promise to Abraham or his posterity, that he should inherit the world, did not come through [observing the commands of] the Law but through the righteousness of faith.

Genesis 22:16-18 (Amplified Bible)

22:16 And said, I have sworn by Myself, says the Lord, that since you have done this and have not withheld [from Me] or begrudged [giving Me] your son, your only son,

22:17 In blessing I will bless you and in multiplying I will multiply your descendants like the stars of the heavens and like the sand on the seashore. And your Seed (Heir) will possess the gate of His enemies,

22:18 And in your Seed [Christ] shall all the nations of the earth be blessed and [by Him] bless themselves, because you have heard and obeyed My voice.

Romans 9:4 (Amplified Bible)

9:4 For they are Israelites, and to them belong God’s adoption [as a nation] and the glorious Presence (Shekinah). With them were the special covenants made, to them was the Law given. To them [the temple] worship was revealed and [God’s own] promises announced.

Galatians 3:16 (Amplified Bible)

3:16 Now the promises (covenants, agreements) were decreed and made to Abraham and his Seed (his Offspring, his Heir). He [God] does not say, And to seeds (descendants, heirs), as if referring to many persons, but, And to your Seed (your Descendant, your Heir), obviously referring to one individual, Who is [none other than] Christ (the Messiah).

Genesis 13:15 (Amplified Bible)

13:15 For all the land which you see I will give to you and to your posterity forever.

GOD fulfilled what He said by blessing Abraham via Melchizedek and swore by GOD's Name.

IX. CONCLUSION:

I am a person of faith, blessed, made happy and favored by GOD with the believing and trusting Abraham.
