Summary: God does not want us to pass through life aimlessly, but to make positive impact as we journey through life. This is achieved by living for the glory of God and for the blessing of others.

Making Positive Impact in the Journey of Life

Study Text: Philippians 2: 18 - 24

Introduction:

- Life is a journey. We are all travelling inevitably towards the end of our lives. We will either journey through life with no sense of direction or we will live with purpose and fulfilment.

- God wants us to be purpose driven people, driven by His plan, His purpose for our lives. That's where meaning and significance come. When you fulfil your life purpose it brings honour to God and it brings satisfaction to yourself.

- Life is too short to be wasted, and too important to be underutilized. Making a maximum impact in life according to the will of God is the best goal to pursue while alive.

- Life is not in its duration, but in its donation. Life for you should not just be how long but how well. You should aim at making maximum impact in life according to the will of God, by being a blessing to your generation.

- If life is short, it is crucial that we are intentional in how we live by aiming at leaving a lasting legacy, not for the purpose of receiving the applause of men, but glorifying God.

- We are called to impact the world around us. Jesus said we are to be the salt of the earth and the light of the world. God calls us to change our world for the good. The impact comes from the reality of Christ living in and through us.

- Living a life of positive impact is possible, but can only be attained through the grace of God and the strength of the Holy Spirit. The following principles are crucial in making a positive impact in life:

1. Seek the Kingdom of God and its Righteousness First Matthew 6:33

- The motive of living a life of positive impact is to please God and glorify His name. So our highest priority must be living to please Him and to profit His kingdom.

2. Discover Your Responsibility:

- All Christians have a general responsibility: This is to love God wholeheartedly, love others sacrificially and make disciples for His kingdom. Luke 10: 27 - 28

3. Evaluate Your Passion

- There is a God-given potential in every man. You need to evaluate your talents and abilities in the light of the word of God.

- Whatever you can do that will bring glory to God and blessings to the people is worth pursuing passionately.

4. Turn Your Obstacles to Opportunities

- Never yield to discouragement, see every stumbling block as a stepping stone in making positive impact in life. Micah 7:8

5. Demonstrate Diligence and Commitment Proverbs 22:29

- Whatever you have discovered to be pleasing to God and profitable as blessings to others, pursue with all diligence and commitment.

- No level is the limit, there will always be a room to go higher and to get better. Improvement is an evidence of positive impact. 2 Peter 3:18

6. Decide What is Important to You: Your Value

- Purpose flows out of values. Every time we make a decision in life, we are taking that decision as what we value, whether we are conscious of it or not.

- Values affect everything we do. We all have values, but often we haven't clarified them or examined them. Romans 12:2

- If you buy into the world's value system, that the ultimate value in life is pleasure, possession and prestige, you will miss God's purpose for your life.

7. Be Willing to Serve

- The Christian life is to be one of 'servanthood'. This is the key to true greatness. A servant sees themselves as 'under' others and seeks to promote and make other people successful (Mark 9:33-37).

- Jesus was a servant. He came as a servant to serve and to give his life for us. Jesus told the disciples that they were also called to serve. 'Do as I have done unto you' (John 13:15). His mission was that of a servant and so is ours (Mark 10:42-45).
