Summary: Sara didn't believe that God can do what He said what He can do. It proves that all things are possible with God.

“Making God Laugh (SERMON)

Genesis 18: 9-16

By help of the Holy Spirit and your prayers I would like to use this thought from the Scripture in your hearing, “MAKING GOD LAUGH” and subtitled “NOTHING’S IMPOSSIBLE WITH GOD”

I’ve remembered back in 2014 the day when my favorite comedian and actor Robin Williams died. I along with the rest of the world with his many fans was shocked to learn of his sudden untimely death and to see a how wonderful a comic and acting genius he was and took his own life.

Finally, when the news came around by way of media the world learned what happened to him. At one of the comedy clubs Robin Williams performed many times, on the marquee it had a wonderful tribute that says," REST IN PEACE ROBIN, MAKE GOD LAUGH”.

In this story, Sarah, the wife of Abraham, I believe made God laugh as well. She didn’t do stand-up or whispered a joke to God’s ears but, she laughed because she was an old woman and with no child had some unbelief of God can do and God had to laugh at her unbelief.

Have you ever laughed at God’s as unbelief and say it was impossible? I did. I remember I attended a Church when I was in Miami, and I was slanged in the Spirit. The preacher who was there ask someone who I was and that’s when he prophesied that I am going to get a wife.

Like Sara, I laughed thinking it would not be possible that it could happen to little me. Like Sara, I had my doubts on something that’s impossible can be possible. BUT God, He did a 360 degree on me and made that impossible thing a possible thing somebody give a shout of Praise.

I.STAND ON HIS PROMISES. After they were looking for Sara and found her in the tent, a promise was given to her that she will have a son. God doesn’t break promises in fact, Romans 8:28 tells us, “And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him who have been called according to his purpose”.

II.EXCUSES ARE NOT NECESSARY. Abraham and Sara had an excuse they thought God was pleased with but remember what the Lord told Jeremiah,” Before I formed thee in the belly, I know thee; and before the womb I sanctified thee {and} I ordained thee a prophet unto nations” Jeremiah 1:5. Abraham and Sara looked at how old they were, but age is nothing but a number.

III.MAKE GOD LAUGH, NOTHING’S IMPOSSIBLE FOR HIM. I love what God asked Sarah, “Is anything too hard for the Lord?” (Verse 14). No matter what situation, problem or addiction there is nothing, I mean nothing is impossible for the Lord. The Lord assured Sarah that the next time of His visit Sarah will have a son. Sarah laughed out of fear and the Lord, and she got caught in a lie saying that she didn’t laugh. Proverbs 15:13 ESV tells us that,

“A glad heart makes a cheerful face, but by sorrow of heart the spirit is crushed.”

FINALLY, THERE WAS A STORY THAT I HEARD:

A MAN JUST GOT MARRIED AND WAS RETURNING HOME WITH HIS WIFE. THEY WERE CROSSING A LAKE IN A BOAT, WHEN SUDDENLY A GREAT STORM AROSE. THE MAN WAS A WARRIOR, BUT THE WOMAN BECAME VERY MUCH AFRAID BECAUSE IT SEEMED ALMOST HOPELESS:

THE BOAT WAS SMALL AND THE STORM WAS REALLY HUGE, AND ANY MOMENT THEY WERE GOING TO BE DROWNED. BUT THE MAN SAT SILENTLY, CALM AND QUIET, AS IF NOTHING WAS HAPPENING.

THE WOMAN WAS TREMBLING AND SHE SAID, “ARE YOU NOT AFRAID?”. THIS MAY BE OUR LAST MOMENT OF LIFE! IT DOESN’T SEEM THAT WE WILL BE ABLE TO REACH THE OTHER SHORE. ONLY SOME MIRACLE CAN SAVE US; OTHERWISE, DEATH IS CERTAIN. ARE YOU NOT AFRAID? ARE YOU MAD OR SOMETHING? ARE YOU STONE OR SOMETHING?

THE MAN LAUGHED AND TOOK THE SWORD OUT OF ITS SHEATH. THE WOMAN WAS EVEN MORE PUZZLED: WHAT HE WAS DOING? THEN HE BROUGHT THE NAKED SWORD CLOSE TO THE WOMAN’S NECK, SO CLOSE THAT JUST A SMALL GAP WAS THERE, IT WAS ALMOST TOUCHING HER NECK.

HE SAID,” ARE YOU AFRAID?”

SHE STARTED TO LAUGH AND SAID,” WHY SHOULD I BE AFRAID? IF THE SWORD IS IN YOUR HANDS, WHY SHOULD I BE AFRAID? I KNOW YOU LOVE ME.

” HE PUT THE SWORD BACK AND SAID; THIS IS MY ANSWER”. I KNOW GOD LOVES ME, AND THE STORM IS IN HIS HANDS.

There’s NOTHING too hard for God no matter you have gone through. AMEN.
