This sermon explores the call to show mercy and compassion to those who doubt, and how to embody Christ's love through understanding and charity.

Introduction

Good morning, beloved family of God. I stand here today, humbled by the grace and love of our Lord, thankful for the opportunity to share His word, and deeply aware of the responsibility that comes with it. We gather here, not as individuals, but as a family, united under the banner of Christ's love, to learn, to grow, to love, and to serve.

Today, we turn our hearts and minds to the book of Jude, specifically verse 22. It reads, "Be merciful to those who doubt." A simple verse, yet it carries a profound message. It speaks of compassion, of understanding, of love, and of mercy. It calls us not just to tolerate, but to actively show mercy to those who doubt, to those who are lost, to those who are seeking.

Cultivating Compassion

The first step is understanding. Understanding that doubt is a part of the human experience. It's not a sign of weakness or a lack of faith. It's a sign of a seeking heart, a heart that longs for truth. When we understand this, we can begin to see those who doubt not as adversaries, but as fellow seekers. We can begin to see their doubt not as a threat, but as an opportunity to show the love of Christ.

The second step is empathy. Empathy is the ability to feel what another person is feeling. It's the ability to put ourselves in their shoes, to see the world from their perspective. When we empathize with those who doubt, we can begin to understand their struggles, their fears, their hopes, and their dreams. We can begin to see them not as faceless strangers, but as brothers and sisters in Christ.
