Making 2018 the Best Year ever
Selected verses
Tonight we will celebrate the coming of the New Year and the exiting of the old year.
Some want the old year to past more than they desire the New Year to come.
Some look at the New Year with expectations of a better year.
Some look at the New Year as being nothing more or less than the year they are getting rid of.
The only way that the New Year will be any different than the year you are exiting is to do something different.
You cannot do the same old thing, the same old way and get a different result. You must do something different.
There are some things of 2017 that for me were good, some very good, and a lot of I don’t ever want that to happen again.
I will keep doing what I need to to make the good and great things happen… as much that is in my control.
I will also change the things that I do not like… as much that is in my control.
Every year people make resolutions about quitting things that are bad for us and starting things that are good for us.
Just saying them will not change a thing.
Doing them, determining what you will do, won’t do.
Determining what you will allow someone to do to you and what you will not allow them to do.
You will have a moment of thought about God and what part He will play in your next year. If it is all talk, nothing will change. Because by the end of the January you will have given up and things return to normal, even if normal is not good.
Questions you will ask yourself one way or another
Is there more to life than you can see… you will have to answer that.
Will I pursue God harder than I have ever sought Him? Yes or No.
Will I change the things that I can change?
Will I allow God to change the things He wants to change in me?
Will I do these things in my strength or will I allow God to give me the strength needed ?
After answering these you will determine if change will happen and if you will be doing it in your strength or with the help and power of God. Which do you want? Who’s strength will you operate under?
You have purpose- we all do.
God created us for a reason and He desires that we fulfill our purpose.
We were all created in the image of God.
We were created to worship and fellowship with God. If we do not do these things we will not feel fulfilled.
If we waste the talents and abilities God gives us, we will feel unfulfilled. If we only use our talents for our own pleasure and our own needs we will feel unfulfilled.
Colossians 1:16-17
“For in Him all things were created; things in heaven and on earth. Visible and invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities; all things have been created through him and for him.”
The same God that created all these things created you.
He says that He knew you before you were formed in your mothers womb.
He says that he has plans for you and nothing concerning God is by chance.
Atheist, who do not believe in God and that there whole life happened by chance cannot have the peace of God that passeth all understanding. It is impossible. Not because, God doesn’t want them to have it, but the fact they do not let God in their lives.
It takes more faith to not believe in God than to believe.
Common sense tells us that these things cannot just happen.
Take a bunch of watch parts and shake it up in your hand and a watch appears.
The beautiful things of nature- nature is not God, but nature is God’s creation. It is too complex to just happen.
If that is the case, I would have just wished as a kid I could of closed my eyes and my bedroom would be cleaned.As I got older;
Farrah Fawcet was my girlfriend.
I was as cool as Kojak.
If you are going to have a good 2018- it must be that you find your purpose that God intended for you and live out your life the way God intended.
You were created by God- not chance.
You were created to love God with your whole heart, mind, soul and body.
You were created for a purpose.
Creator God doesn’t create junk. WE were created to have dignity. If we are made by chance, what dignity is that? So I say all that to tell you as you move into the New Year- you have to find your purpose and execute your purpose in your life and you will not find your purpose without God.
