Youth Sermon: Made New in Christ (Easter Sunday)

Introduction

I want you all to take a look at this old, worn-out t-shirt. It's got holes, stains, and it's just not looking too great. But, imagine if we could trade this old shirt for a brand-new one, with no holes or stains. That's what Jesus can do with our lives when we trust in Him. He takes our old, messed-up selves and makes us new.

Jesus' Resurrection and Hope

Remember the story of the two women who went to Jesus' tomb on Easter morning? They were sad and scared, but when they found out Jesus was alive, they were filled with joy! Jesus' resurrection shows us that there's always hope, even when things seem impossible.

Becoming New Through Jesus

In Romans 10:9, it says that if we confess with our mouths that Jesus is Lord and believe in our hearts that God raised Him from the dead, we will be saved. That means when we trust in Jesus, He can make us new, just like trading in that old t-shirt for a new one.

In 2 Corinthians 5:17, it says that when we are in Christ, we become new creations. That means Jesus can take our old, messed-up ways and replace them with new, better ways of living. He can help us become more loving, kind, and generous.

Conclusion

So, what does this all mean for us? It means that no matter what we're going through or how messed up our lives might seem, Jesus can make us new. All we have to do is trust in Him and let Him work in our lives.

Prayer

"Jesus, thank You for Your resurrection power that can make us new. Help us to trust in You and let You work in our lives. Take our old ways and replace them with Your love, kindness, and generosity. Amen."
