Lunatic World We Live In! (Hix)
Contributed by Jimmy Haile on Apr 20, 2013 (message contributor)
Summary: We need to be able to transfer what we learn or what we see on Sunday, to what we are doing on Monday!
Verse 4-let us make here three tabernacles
A man was shipped wreaked on a deserted island, by himself and finally after many years he was rescued and the rescue crew looked around and saw three buildings that the man had built and asked him about them. He said, “The first one is my house, the second one is the church I worship at.” They asked him about the third building, he said, “That’s the church I use to attend!”
Matthew 16:28-Assuredly, I say to you, there are some standing here who shall not taste death till they see the Son of Man coming in His kingdom.”
Transfiguration was just a taste of what is to come.
Sam’s Club, they have these stations giving out free samples of things, they want you try for yourself and taste how good their product is.
Verse 9-Now as they came down from the mountain
The purpose of every mountaintop experience is, that we might come down from the mountain, down in the valley to minister to human need!
Either you got people who are always in the valley helping people (Those ones who take care of everybody else but themselves), they never take time to have those mountaintop experiences, time to be alone with God.
Or you got those people who are always trying to live on the mountaintop and never wanting to come down to the valley to minister to human need.
Verse 14-15-And when they had come to the multitude, a man came to Him, kneeling down to Him and saying, “Lord, have mercy on my son, for he is an epileptic and suffers severely; for he often falls into the fire and often into the water.
KJV says…For He Is Lunatic
Transfiguration is Sunday and the lunatic world we live in, we have to face on Monday!
We need to be able to transfer what we learn or what we see on Sunday, to what we are doing on Monday!
The more that we learn about God, about His ways, His plans, His will, the more our faith is going to be tested!
Satan wants to separate Sunday from Monday, he wants to separate your religious experience from your everyday experience, and he has been able to do that with a lot people.
That is why as soon as you have that mountaintop experience, the devil is going to waiting in the valley for you!
If we are not careful we will forget what we learned on the mountaintop, when we get in the valley!
Our life is more than just head knowledge, we may know all the right things to say, we may know all the right things to do, but we must put those things into practical use!!
All those things we have learned in Sunday School, Vacation Bible School, Bible Study, Sunday after Sunday of hearing Sermons, if all those things don’t translate in our everyday life, what good are they?
Transfiguration-A change in appearance…All the things we learned, there should be a change in our attitude, our lifestyle, our walk, our talk….It should be something that people see!
If Jesus is not real on Monday, in your everyday life, it is because He has not been real to you on Sunday!!
Verse 8-When they had lifted up their eyes, they saw no one but Jesus only
Oh, that we would get to that point in our Christian walk, when we would only see Jesus!
Only see Jesus…How He wants to change lives!
Only see Jesus…How He wants to reach the lost!
Only see Jesus…How He wants to minister to needs!
Only see Jesus…How He wants to use us!
Verse 16-So I brought him to Your disciples, but they could not cure him.
Why is the church in the world today? So that we can meet the needs of people, whether it is physical, spiritual, emotional, financial.
The church should never be helpless or hopeless in meeting the needs of people!!!
The church should never be powerless!
You have access to resources of God
Everything that God has is yours and everything you have is His!
So when the devil comes and says, “I’ll give you this or that!”
You can say, “I don’t need anything, I own everything!”
Then when the devil says, “I’ll take away this or that!”
You can say, “I don’t own anything!”
What he is going to do with a person like that?
1 Kings 20:28-Then a man of God came and spoke to the king of Israel, and said, “Thus says the Lord: ‘Because the Syrians have said, “The Lord is God of the hills, but He is not God of the valleys,” therefore I will deliver all this great multitude into your hand, and you shall know that I am the Lord.’”
God is the God of the mountaintops and the valleys!!
