Summary: How we should value our love for God? In what way do we show it?

TOPIC: PAGPAPAHALAGA NG ISANG ALAGAD NI JESUS

Text: Luke 14:25-35

Introduction:

Jesus calls His followers to be true disciples. ANO ANG PALATANDAAN NG ISANG ALAGAD NI JESUS, ANO ANG KANIYANG MGA PINAHAHALAGAHAN?

1. LOVES JESUS ABOVE ALL (Pinapahalagahan niyang Mahalin ng Higit Kaninuman si Jesus)

a. Love Jesus more than loved ones

"If anyone comes to me and does not hate his father and mother, his wife and children, his brothers and sisters, he cannot be my disciple.” Luke 14:26

Hate is an idiom meaning to love less One’s loyalty to Jesus must come before his loyalty to family. "Anyone who loves his father or mother more than me is not worthy of me; anyone who loves his son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me” Matt 10:37.

b. Love Jesus above self

“And anyone who does not carry his cross and follow me cannot be my disciple”. Luke 14:27

• Our loyalty to Jesus must come before our own life

• We are to carry the cross

• Public display that Jesus is right and the disciple is following even to death

Like Paul we need to say… “I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me” Gal 2:20

c. Loves Jesus more than possessions

“In the same way, any of you who do not give up everything he has cannot be my disciple” Luke 14:33. Willingness to give up everything for Jesus.

2. LOVES OTHERS WITH CHRIST LIKE LOVE (Pinapahalagahan niyang Mahalin ang Kapwa ng Pag-ibig ni Cristo)

"A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this all men will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another." John 13:34-35.

New commandment New object: Special love for one another New standard: the sacrificial love of Jesus Result: all will know you are Jesus’ disciple.

3. OBEYS THE TEACHING OF CHRIST (Pinapahalagahan niyang Sumunod sa Katuruan ni Jesus)

Jesus said, "If you hold to my teaching, you are really my disciples” John 8:31

Commitment to put Jesus’ teaching into daily practice.

To live a disciplined and Godly life “And teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you” Matt 28:20.

4. Bears Much Fruit for God’s Glory (Pinapahalagahan niyang Mamunga sa Kaluwalhatian ng Diyos)

“This is to my Father's glory, that you bear much fruit, showing yourselves to be my disciples”. John15:8.

The function of a branch is to bear fruit Without the intimate connection with the vine we can’t bear fruit. The one who fails to remain in Jesus will be empty Because we are the branches, we can draw life from the vine. We can have love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self control. Gal 5:22 As we live in Jesus, we will become fruitful.

Conclusion:

Are you a Disciple ... LOVES JESUS ABOVE ALL LOVES OTHERS WITH CHRISTLIKE LOVE OBEYS THE TEACHING OF CHRIST BEARS MUCH FRUIT FOR GOD’S GLORY.

Don’t be a savorless salt. Salt is good, but if it loses its saltiness, how can it be made salty again? It is fit neither for the soil nor for the manure pile; it is thrown out.” Luke 14:34.

Salt that lost it’s saltiness has no value A Christian who is not a Disciple is of no value at all.

Mark 8:34-38 What shall it profit a man if he gains the whole world but loses his soul? Whoever tries to save his life will lose it Whoever gives his life will save it.

Mark 8:38 For whoever is ashamed of me and of my words in this adulterous and sinful generation Of him will the son of Man also be ashamed when He comes in the glory of His Father with the holy angels. Avoid monkey mentality.
