Marriage is a sacred union ordained by God, and at its core, it is built upon the foundation of love. As believers, we have been called to reflect the love of Christ in our marriages and to cultivate a love that is selfless, sacrificial, and unconditional. Our foundation for this sermon will be Ephesians 5:25-33, and we will delve into five key aspects of love that form the solid foundation of Christian marriage.

I. Selfless Love:

In Ephesians 5:25, it states, "Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her." This verse emphasizes the sacrificial nature of love. It highlights that husbands are called to love their wives in a selfless manner, mirroring the love that Christ demonstrated for the church. Christ's love for the church was characterized by His willingness to give Himself up, even to the point of sacrificing His own life. Therefore, "Selfless Love" in this context refers to a love that is willing to sacrifice personal desires, needs, and even one's own life for the well-being and benefit of another.

1 Corinthians 13:4-8 provides a comprehensive description of love. It states, "Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud.
