Summary: Maybe Moses realised that after witnessing so many magnificent miracles, physical and supernatural encounters, and even after seeing God face to face, all of these experiences are only glimpses of God's Glory, but not God's full Glory.

So the LORD said to Moses, “I will also do this thing that you have spoken; for you have found grace in My sight, and I know you by name.” And he said, “Please, show me Your glory.” Exodus 33:17-18

After the burning bush encounter, after witnessing mighty miracles, and after seeing God face to face in the tent of meeting, Moses asks God this request - “Lord show me Your glory.” Maybe Moses realised that after witnessing so many magnificent miracles, physical and supernatural encounters, and even after seeing God face to face, all of these experiences are only glimpses of God's Glory, but not God's full Glory. Imagine a person like Moses who, after spending so much time in God's presence and seeing God face to face, asks God to show him His glory. He realised that God's Glory is so vast and magnificent that all of his previous experiences are pale (are small or as if nothing) in comparison. Moses' previous experiences are very small or nothing in comparison to God's glory.

He was not satisfied with all his previous experiences or encounters, he wanted to see God in all His Glory. A person who gets a glimpse of God’s glory will not be satisfied until he sees God in all of His Glory. He might have realised that God's Glory is something so vast, wider, greater, and beyond anything he had ever experienced before. Moses was pursuing something beyond human comprehension and understanding. Maybe he realised that seeing God face to face and witnessing all these wonderful miracles are small or insignificant in comparison to experiencing God's Glory. Seeing God face to face made him understand that there is something beyond human comprehension called God's Glory, which is unlike anything he had ever encountered and experienced before. He was venturing into uncharted land, where no humans had ever gone before, in search or pursuit of God's Glory.

God's Glory is something very vast and beyond human comprehension which reveals many big and different aspects of God that are hidden from humanity. Humanity cannot withstand God in all His glory. After the fall, humanity lost its ability to withstand God in all of His glory. Moses wanted to see God in all of His glory, which includes many diverse facets, aspects, natures, and characters that are hidden from humans or lost after the fall in the garden of Eden. We don't know what these aspects or facets that are lost after the fall, but they are very awesome and marvellous. These may be too high for human comprehension or endurance. Moses wanted to see the God in all Glory(which is beyond anything) and was not satisfied with the glimpses of God’s Glory.

This generation is so satisfied with bits and pieces of God’s Glory. They don’t have the desire to see God in all His Glory like Moses. They talk about God’s Glory very lightly(as if they know the fullness of God’s Glory) and use the word “Glory” casually. They think that seeing God’s face or having a supernatural encounter itself is God’s glory. All supernatural encounters are merely a glimpse of God's glory; they are not the entirety(complete) of God's glory. In this generation, there are many people who talk about God’s Glory but there are very few who actually experienced it. Many people just talk about God's glory without actually experiencing it. There is a lot of hype about God's Glory, but no one truly knows what it is. People who have actually experienced glimpses of God’s Glory are quiet, but people who haven't experienced it make lot of noise.

Experiencing God's glory is a frightening experience in which your body is exposed to the heat of God's holiness, which burns sin and causes you to repent immediately. It is not a fun place. If you meet any Old Testament saints, they will tell you that God and His Glory are extremely dangerous, even after leading a holy life, and that our bodies are not capable to withstand or sustain such glory. A person who has spent a significant amount of time in God's presence may understand and describe what God's glory IS. It is far greater and more vast than any mighty miracles, cloud dust falling, or other supernatural experiences /occurrences.

It could be something that humans are unaware, cannot withstand or grasp. If God comes in His full glory, all planets may vaporise. I also don’t know what God's Glory really is, and only someone who spends more time in God’s presence, may understand and pursue towards it. People can tell so many definitions of God’s Glory, but only those who spend significant time in God's presence can truly understand and know what God's Glory is. Do you have to see God’s glory? It starts with spending more time in God's presence and finding out what is God’s Glory. God's Glory is not the miracles but knowing the person and nature of God in all His full measure. Knowing God in all of His Glory is a journey that cannot be completed in one lifetime on Earth, and it extends into heaven as well. Experiencing or seeing God in all His Glory may take 10000 years easily. It's a very long journey that begins on Earth and continues in heaven for eternity.
