LOOK WHAT THE LORD HAS DONE FOR ME

PSALM 40:1-4

INTRODUCTION:

This psalm is a celebration of God's great goodness to him, and all his people.

He praises God for delivering him out of deep distress, vs. 1-5.

Thence takes occasion to speak of the work of our redemption by Christ, vs. 6-10.

Prays for mercy and grace both for himself and for his brethren, vs. 11-17. John Wesley’ Notes

Today I would like to look at the portion that speaks on Praise for Deliverance

The Word (WAITED) in Vs1 has the meaning of Companionship.

Meaning that ‘they’ waited. David wasn’t alone and PTL were not alone either.

Hebrews 13:5c says… I WILL NEVER LEAVE THEE, NOR FORSAKE THEE

Proverbs 18:24b says…AND THERE IS A FRIEND THAT STICKETH CLOSER THAN A BROTHER

Joshua 1:5b says…AS I WAS WITH MOSES, SO SHALL I BE WITH THEE, FOR I WILL NOT FAIL THEE, NOR FORSAKE THEE

1. HE INCLINED UNTO ME VS1

Inclined has the meaning of…looking my way

1. Offer Help

2. Outstretch His Hand

3. Overthrow my situation

A. He Seen My Need

B. He Know I - We Need Help….were crying

C. He Knows My Need

D. He Knows What Were Going Through

Psalm 33:13 says… The LORD looketh from heaven; he beholdeth all the sons of men.

E. He Is Able To Able

2. HE BROUGHT ME UP VS2

Brought has the meaning of …carry up, cast up, climb up, come up, and cast off PTL

…not only has He looked my way, but he also came to me and brought me up and out of the Miry Clay.

A. He Knew That I Needed Brought Out

B. He Took Me By The Hand

…like Peter and John in Acts 3

1. Sometime’s we need help

C. He Took My Hand

…He gave me direction to get out, if I ever was there again….WOOHOO! PTL!!

3. HE SET MY FEET VS2

…not only has He Inclined unto me, not only has He Brought me up, he has also set my feet right.

A. We All Are On Unstable Ground, Shifting Sands

1. He Confirmed My Place…

A. Gave me a place to stand

B. Keeps me from sinking deeper

C. Makes me to stand firm

2. He Cleared My Vision

3. He Continues Me In The Right Path Way

B. No Longer Tossed To And Fro

C A Higher Place To See

1. Where He brought me from

2. Where were going.

4. HE ESTABLISHED MY GOINGS VS2

…not only has he Inclined unto me, not only has he Brought me up, not only has He Set My Feet, but He has also Established My Goings…

Established has the meaning of…

1. Prepared or Provided

2. Ready or Right

3. Fashioned, Fastened, Faithful, Firm, Fitted, Fixed, and Framed

A. With My Head Up High…NO SHAME

B. Welcomed In The Family…NO PAST HANGING OVER MY HEAD

5. HE PUT A NEW SONG IN MY MOUTH VS3

…not only has He Inclined unto Me, Brought me Up, Set My Feet, Established My Goings, but He gave me a New Song To Sing.

…A Special opportunity to Praise Him

Matthew 12:34b says… for out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaketh.

If its in the Heart is has to come out.

Closing:

Just look at what the Lord has done for me, what He has done for me He will do for you.
