INTRODUCTION:

Life is full of trials, distractions, and challenges that constantly compete for our attention. Many times, people focus on their problems, weaknesses, or the storms around them and lose sight of God’s ability to deliver and guide them. The Bible reminds us that when men looked unto the serpent lifted by Moses in the wilderness, they lived. In the same way, when we look unto Jesus Christ, we find life, deliverance, and hope.

The secret of victorious living is where our focus is fixed. If we focus on fear, failures, or the opinions of men, we will sink into discouragement. But if we fix our eyes on Christ, we receive courage, direction, and peace. Looking unto Jesus is more than a one-time act of salvation—it is a daily walk of faith and dependence.

As we go through this study, we will discover the dimensions of life, direction, strength, and hope that come when we look unto Jesus. Like Jacob in Genesis 29, who received divine help and direction at the well, our gaze upon Christ will always position us for fulfillment and victory.

1. LOOKING UNTO JESUS BRINGS DELIVERANCE

Looking unto Jesus delivers us from sin, fear, and destruction. His sacrifice on the cross guarantees that those who turn to Him will not perish.

a) Deliverance from Sin (John 1:29)

Jesus, the Lamb of God, takes away the sins of the world and grants forgiveness.

b) Deliverance from Fear (2 Timothy 1:7)

Fear is replaced with boldness when our faith rests in Christ.

c) Deliverance from Bondage (Galatians 5:1)

In Christ, we are set free from every yoke of oppression.

d) Deliverance from Death (John 11:25-26)

Looking to Jesus ensures eternal life beyond the grave.

Biblical Example: The Israelites in the wilderness looked at the bronze serpent and lived (Numbers 21:8-9).

2. LOOKING UNTO JESUS BRINGS DIRECTION

When we fix our eyes on Christ, He leads us on the right path. Confusion is replaced with clarity when God directs our steps.

a) Jesus is the Way (John 14:6)

He alone provides the right path to follow.

b) The Good Shepherd Guides (John 10:4)

He goes before His sheep and ensures safety.

c) The Word of God Brings Light (Psalm 119:105)

The Scriptures prevent stumbling and guide our decisions.

d) Trust in the Lord Prevents Mistakes (Proverbs 3:5-6)

When we lean on Him, He straightens our paths.

Biblical Example: Jacob was divinely directed to Rachel at the well when he set out in faith (Genesis 29:1-20).

3. LOOKING UNTO JESUS BRINGS STRENGTH

Christ strengthens us in our weaknesses and sustains us through life’s battles.

a) Grace in Weakness (2 Corinthians 12:9)

His strength is made perfect in our weakness.

b) Renewal of Strength (Isaiah 40:31)

Those who wait upon the Lord rise with wings like eagles.

c) Courage in Affliction (2 Timothy 1:8)

Looking unto Christ empowers us to endure hardships for His sake.

d) Joy of the Lord Gives Strength (Nehemiah 8:10)

A Christ-centered focus produces inner strength and joy.

Biblical Example: Peter walked on water as long as his eyes remained fixed on Jesus (Matthew 14:28-31).

4. LOOKING UNTO JESUS BRINGS HOPE AND GLORY

Focusing on Christ assures us of eternal life and future glory, no matter the present trials.

a) Hope of Eternal Life (Titus 2:13)

We eagerly await His glorious return.

b) Hope in Suffering (Romans 8:18)

Present afflictions cannot be compared with future glory.

c) Christ as Our Anchor (Hebrews 6:19)

He secures our lives against the storms of life.

d) Transformation through Beholding (2 Corinthians 3:18)

As we look to Him, we are changed into His image.

Biblical Example: Stephen saw Jesus at the right hand of God and was filled with unshakable hope even in death (Acts 7:55-56).

CONCLUSION:

Looking unto Jesus is the believer’s greatest safeguard, strength, and hope. Just as the Israelites lived by looking at the bronze serpent, we too will live when we fix our gaze upon Christ. He alone is the source of deliverance, direction, strength, and eternal glory.

Therefore, turn your eyes away from fear, sin, and distractions, and fix them on Jesus Christ daily. As you look to Him, you will not be put to shame, and your life will radiate His glory and power.

PRAYER POINTS:

1. Lord, fix my gaze on Jesus all the days of my life.

2. Deliver me from every distraction that shifts my focus from Christ.
