Summary: Parents need to turn to the Lord
LOOK AT THE HOME
Ephesians
5:31 For this cause shall a man leave his father and mother, and shall be joined unto his wife, and they two shall be one flesh.
5:32 This is a great mystery: but I speak concerning Christ and the church.
5:33 Nevertheless let every one of you in particular so love his wife even as himself; and the wife see that she reverence her husband.
Something has went wrong every prisoner crook was at one time a little baby
The home was instituted by our Lord and is the mainstream of social and spiritual life.
(1) Most parents are out of pocket
Isaiah 39:4 Then said he, What have they seen in thine house? And Hezekiah answered, All that is in mine house have they seen: there is nothing among my treasures that I have not shewed them.
The head of the house is a has been husband
The wife is not a weaker vessel she is a walking variety
The husband and wife are no longer a team but a target
(2) Our priorities are out of order
Colossians
3:17 And whatsoever ye do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God and the Father by him.
3:18 Wives, submit yourselves unto your own husbands, as it is fit in the Lord.
3:19 Husbands, love your wives, and be not bitter against them.
3:20 Children, obey your parents in all things: for this is well pleasing unto the Lord.
3:21 Fathers, provoke not your children to anger, lest they be discouraged.
Excitement at ball games lifelessness at church
Automobiles without responsibilities wreck buy another
See children get to doctor school clothes leave out the lord
(3) Most problems are petty
1st Timothy 6:5 Perverse disputings of men of corrupt minds, and destitute of the truth, supposing that gain is godliness: from such withdraw thyself.
6:6 But godliness with contentment is great gain.
Lake of appreciation for each other and the deeds done
Loss of affection not as sweet and dear
Looking for an argument to drive the wedge deeper
(4) The proof is in the pudding is eating the pie
Proverbs 15:17 Better is a dinner of herbs where love is, than a stalled ox and hatred therewith.
15:18 A wrathful man stirreth up strife: but he that is slow to anger appeaseth strife.
15:19 The way of the slothful man is as an hedge of thorns: but the way of the righteous is made plain.
15:20 A wise son maketh a glad father: but a foolish man despiseth his mother.
Fault finding without facts
Fractious without fear lasting damage
Folly of home wrecking disastrous
(5) Phony patch up not fixing
Matthew 18:35 So likewise shall my heavenly Father do also unto you, if ye from your hearts forgive not every one his brother their trespasses.
Two adults recognizing problems
Resolving them
Repent and forgive will prevail
(6) The power of prayer in the family that prays
1st peter 3:1 Likewise, ye wives, be in subjection to your own husbands; that, if any obey not the word, they also may without the word be won by the conversation of the wives;
3:2 While they behold your chaste conversation coupled with fear.
3:3 Whose adorning let it not be that outward adorning of plaiting the hair, and of wearing of gold, or of putting on of apparel;
3:4 But let it be the hidden man of the heart, in that which is not corruptible, even the ornament of a meek and quiet spirit, which is in the sight of God of great price.
3:5 For after this manner in the old time the holy women also, who trusted in God, adorned themselves, being in subjection unto their own husbands:
3:6 Even as Sara obeyed Abraham, calling him lord: whose daughters ye are, as long as ye do well, and are not afraid with any amazement.
3:7 Likewise, ye husbands, dwell with them according to knowledge, giving honour unto the wife, as unto the weaker vessel, and as being heirs together of the grace of life; that your prayers be not hindered.
The family that prays stays
Pull together will tighten the knot
Plays together promotes unity
(7) The plan that is proven is faith that is positive
Ephesians 6:1 Children, obey your parents in the Lord: for this is right.
6:2 Honour thy father and mother; which is the first commandment with promise;
6:3 That it may be well with thee, and thou mayest live long on the earth.
6:4 And, ye fathers, provoke not your children to wrath: but bring them up in the nurture and admonition of the Lord.
Sin forgiveness brings sweet relief
Remedy forgive each other
Work together for lasting results
