Living With Definite Aim
Contributed by Allen Speegle on Sep 12, 2005 (message contributor)
Summary: Most people live and die without discovering their purpose for being on earth. This message will help believers easily identify their gifting by asking a few simple qiestons.
Living With Definite Aim
1Cor.9:26 Therefore I do not run uncertainly without definite aim. (AMP)
Acts 26:16-18 I have appeared unto you for this purpose:
• (V-16) to make you a minister
• (V-17) sending you to the gentiles
• (V-18) to open their eyes to truth
2Tim.4:7 I have fought a good fight, I have finished "my course", I have kept the faith:
Paul knew his course in life and finished it.
To often we have made finding our course in life a mystical often impossible journey.
Wrong ideas about discovering our course in life:
1. It will be something you will not enjoy.
2. It will be difficult to discover.
3. Never say you don’t want to do something
because God will make you do it.
4. Once you find it you will no longer have a
life.
5. Once you start it you can never stop.
Following the course that God has for your life adds to the quality of life, it does not take away from it.
Luke 6:38 says that whatever you give comes back to you in abundance.
Mk.10:28-30 (28) Then Peter began to mention all that he and the other disciples had left behind. "We’ve given up everything to follow you," he said. (NLT)
Mk.8:35-37 (35) If you try to keep your life for yourself, you will lose it. But if you give up your life for my sake and for the sake of the Good News, you will find true life. (NLT)
(Message) What good would it do to get everything you want and lose you, the real you? What could you ever trade your soul for?
The real you is the one that God designed to live in peace and fulfillment.
God wants us to walk through life with an awareness of the value he placed on us and our purpose/course in this world.
Psa.37:4 Delight thyself in the Lord and he will give you the desires of thy heart.
3 Simple Questions That Unlock our Purpose/Course in Life:
1. What do you enjoy?
Wouldn’t it be something if Christians discovered
they could actually enjoy what they
do?
2. How can you use it to help others?
3. Where can I start right now?
Reasons People Do Not Follow “Their” Course:
1. Doesn’t seem spiritual or important enough.
The most spiritual thing you do is what you do
for others.
2. They play the comparison game with others and
their course.
Rom.12:6 let’s go ahead and be what we were made
to be, without enviously or pridefully comparing
ourselves with each other, or trying to be
something we aren’t. (Message)
1Cor.12:4-6 God’s various gifts are handed out
everywhere…. (Message)
3. Feel unqualified.
Phil.3:13 I am still not all I should be, but I
am focusing all my energies on this one thing:
Forgetting the past and looking forward to what
lies ahead. (NLT)
1Cor.15: 9 For I am the least of the apostles,
that am not meet to be called an apostle, because
I persecuted the church of God. 10 But by the
grace of God I am what I am: and his grace which
was bestowed upon me was not in vain.
4. Wrong view of God.
Mat.25: 24 Then he which had received the one
talent came and said, Lord, I knew thee that thou
art an hard man, reaping where thou hast not
sown, and gathering where thou hast
strowed: 25 And I was afraid, and went and hid
thy talent in the earth: lo, there thou hast that
is thine.
(Message) I was afraid I might disappoint you…..
2Cor.6:2 Now is the accepted time……
5. Waiting for perfect timing.
Eccl.11:4 If you wait for perfect conditions, you
get anyhting done.(NLT)
Two days for now tomorrow will be yesterday……. So
it’s time to get started with living our passion!
