Living Victoriously!

PROVERBS 3: 5-6 "Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding. In all your ways, acknowledge Him, and He will make your paths straight."

There are four points to living the Christian life in absolute victory.

1. TRUST GOD

God is the same yesterday, today, and tomorrow. We know that God does not change, so He deserves our complete confidence that He knows best and we must understand that His way is the best way possible for us to follow. (Read JAMES 1:17)

And since God is over us, we need to develop a humble heart that will allow us to bow our spirits down to His Spirit; to enable us to become total servants to His will; and to put Him on the pedestal and take ourselves off that pedestal.

2. DO NOT RELY ON YOUR OWN UNDERSTANDING

God is omniscient, meaning, He knows everything. The human mind has limited understanding. We tend to think we are extremely intelligent beings, but the creation can never be more intelligent that the Creator. Every thought and motive is visible to God, there’s nothing He doesn’t see.

3. ACKNOWLEDGE HIM IN ALL YOUR WAYS

God is the Maker and Savior of all mankind, so He has the right to plan every life. He knits us together in the womb, He provides redemption through His Son, Jesus Christ, and He gives spiritual gifts to be used on His behalf. Believers are to include their Heavenly Father in everything, just as a child will look to his father.

Too many of us tend to worship Christ on Sunday and then only give Him lip-service the rest of the week. Between the church door and the car door on Sunday, we tend to walk away from being humble servants more with each step we take. And then we expect to find Jesus sitting in church waiting for us – right where we left Him last Sunday.

Success may tempt people to feel proud and self-focused so we must resist such thinking, which can lead us in a wrong and harmful direction.

4. GOD PROMISES TO MAKE OUR PATHS STRAIGHT

Our walk is not free of trials and troubles, so we must follow God’s direction and He will help us overcome whatever comes into our lives. We must depend on Him, for He will never leave us; He will never forsake us; and He will never stop loving us. God said it, I believe it, and that settles it.

This old saying is true: As we go through the storm, God may choose not to change the storm, but if He doesn’t, He will change us so we can get through the storm. All that is required is our truly trusting in Him, believing in Him, and being obedient unto Him.
