Living Under The Shadow Of The Almighty

Summary: What a privilege and joy for the believer to live in the every day recognition of the presence of God in his or her life.
LIVING UNDER THE SHADOW OF THE ALMIGHTY
“He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the Lord, ‘He is my refuge and my fortress: My God. In Him I will trust.” Psalms 91: 1-2
I. HOW THIS HIGH PRIVILEGE IS OBTAINED:
Through salvation:
“For you are all the Children of God through faith in Christ Jesus.” Galatians 3:26
Through obedience:
“Behold, I set before you today a blessing and a curse: The blessing: if you obey the commandments of the Lord your God: and a curse if you obey not the commandments of the Lord your God.” Deuteronomy 11: 26-28
II THE SPIRITUAL BLESSINGS THIS PRIVILEGE AFFORDS US:
Genuine happiness:
“whom having not seen, you love: in whom, though now you see Him not, yet believing, you rejoice with joy unspeakable and full of glory.” I Peter 1:8
Personal fellowship with God:
“But if we walk in the light, as He is in the light, we have fellowship wit one another, and the blood of Jesus Christ is Son cleanses us from all sin.” I Peter 1:8
III. THE TEMPORAL BLESSINGS THIS PRIVILEGE AFFORDS US TODAY:
“And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that brings forth his fruit in his
season: his leaf also shall no wither: and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper.” Psalm1:3
Notice these great truths. The faithful and dedicated child of God is assured of being the
beneficiary of these four blessings:
Established (“planted”)
Productive (“brings forth fruit”)
Sustained (“his leaf also shall not wither”)
Prospered (“whatsoever he doeth shall prosper”)
IV. THE FUTURE BLESSINGS WHICH THIS PRIVILEGE ASSURES:
Surely, the wonderful blessings of this present time are but a foretaste of that which awaits His children in glory. Paul quotes Isaiah in writing: “But as it is written: ‘Eye has not seen, nor ear heard, Nor have entered into the heart of man, The things which God has prepared for those who love Him.”
The Lord Jesus confirmed this when He said:
“Well done, thou good and faithful servant, you have been faithful over a few things, I will make you ruler over many things. Enter into the joy of the Lord.” Matthew 25:21 (and verse 23).
The Apostle John writes of these great blessings in the past tense signifying the certainty of fulfillment:
“To Him who loved us and washed us from our sins in His own blood, and has made us kings and priests to His God and Father, to Him be glory and dominion forever and ever. Amen.” Revelation 1: 5b-6
