Summary: God's promises build trust and relationship with His people.

INTRODUCTION

• The last 3 weeks we have covered the gamut of relationships…

• Those above us, beside us and below us…

• We are going to pause today and deal with the deepest relationship any person can have…

• The one inside of us…with Him…

Exodus 23:20-21, “Behold, I am going to send an angel before you to guard you along the way and to bring you into the place which I have prepared. Be on your guard before him and obey his voice; do not be rebellious toward him…since my name is in him.”

I. Promises That Build Relationship

• God has always used promises to build trust and relationship with His people

• There are dimensions of promise that He promises to bring us into if we honor Him

• Of possession, presence, provision

• The promise of a land…evil driven out…and a place made for them

• Then His promise of being with them…His presence

• Finally He promised provision…

• The truth is we all want His promises on our schedule…

• Vs. 30 very important…there are promises that take time…little by little

• The dimension of promise is taken little by little…day by day

• No less of a promise than one that is fulfilled instantly

• His timing is crucial…and key for all of us…

II. Promise Of His Presence

• Found in verse 20-22, the angel of the Lord…will be with you…

• Key to walking in Jesus is to obey what the Spirit says…God will make a way…

III. Possession Of His Land

• God promises us territory…sometimes that is real land and sometimes it is the ground He is taking back inside of us…

• This is how the kingdom of God is built…

• Verse 31-32, 23,27 - “I will fix your boundary from the Red Sea to the Sea of the Philistines, and from the wilderness to the River Euphrates; for I will deliver the inhabitants of the land into your hand, and you will drive them out before you. 32“You shall make no covenant with them or with their gods. 33“They shall not live in your land, because they will make you sin against me; for if you serve their gods, it will surely be a snare to you.”

23My angel will go ahead of you and bring you into the land of the Amorites, Hittites, Perizzites, Canaanites, Hivites and Jebusites, and I will wipe them out. 27“I will send my terror ahead of you and throw into confusion every nation you encounter. I will make all your enemies turn their backs and run.”

• Evil driven out so His will can take place

• This is a picture of what God does to build His presence in us!

Luke 17:20 NKJV, Jesus said “The Kingdom of God begins within you.” 20Now when He was asked by the Pharisees when the Kingdom of God would come, He answered them and said, “The Kingdom of God does not come with observation; 21nor will they say, ‘see here!’ or ‘see there!’ for indeed, the Kingdom of God is within you.”

• As a church family we also have promises…God has called us to push out evil…with the love of Christ…to touch the Inland Empire…and bring life to our valley

• By faith we are little by little sacrificially taking our promise…

• But are you doing that personally…

• Are you allowing His presence to touch you…deep inside

• We have a call to touch our valley

• But even in the promise is the everyday struggle to survive…

IV. His Provision

• He knows in the midst of His working His promises in us we have issues…and He moves to touch them…

• Verse 25-26 - 5“But you shall serve the Lord your God, and He will bless your bread and your water; and I will remove sickness from your midst. 26“There shall be no one miscarrying or barren in your land; I will fulfill the number of your days.”

• Health, food, fruitfulness all the days of our lives…

Close – Emotions are good for as long as they last…it is just that they don’t…commit to serve because it is the right thing to do.

• Partner with others to grow…because it is what will build you…
