Little Is Much When God Is In It

Summary: Small things God used.
Small things God used:
1. A STICK
Exodus 4:2 "The LORD said unto him, What is that in thine hand? And he said, A rod".
What did God do through Moses’ rod? He brought the 10 plagues upon Egypt. He divided the Red Sea. He defeated the Amalekites.
God took something that had been dead and used it.
He can do the same for those who are spiritually dead.
2. A STONE
1 Samuel 17:49 "David put his hand in his bag, and took thence a stone, and slang it, and smote the Philistine in his forehead, that the stone sunk into his forehead; and he fell upon his face to the earth". We are told in verse 41 that David chose his stones.
God chooses and uses weak things - read 1 Corinthians 1:26.
3. A SLAVE
2 Kings 5:2 "The Syrians had gone out by companies, and had brought away captive out of the land of Israel a little maid; and she waited on Naaman’s wife".
A little girl was loyal to God in a foreign country. She did not say very much but what she did shook two kingdoms. God often uses children - Isaiah 11:6.
4. A SNACK
John 6:9 "There is a lad here, which hath five barley loaves, and two small fishes".
The feeding of the five thousand is the only miracle recorded in all four gospels. Therefore it deserves special attention.
“five barley loaves” - the food of the poor.
“two small fishes” - John alone uses the word “small”.
In the harvest field now ripened
There’s a work for all to do;
Hark! the voice of God is calling
To the harvest calling you.
In the mad rush of the broad way,
In the hurry and the strife,
Tell of Jesus’ love and mercy,
Give to them the Word of Life.
Does the place you’re called to labour
Seem too small and little known?
It is great if God is in it,
And He’ll not forget His own.
Are you laid aside from service,
Body worn from toil and care?
You can still be in the battle,
In the sacred place of prayer.
When the conflict here is ended
And our race on earth is run,
He will say, if we are faithful,
“Welcome home, My child—well done!”
Little is much when God is in it!
Labour not for wealth or fame.
There’s a crown—and you can win it,
If you go in Jesus’ Name.
