Lines

The lines are fallen unto me in pleasant places; yea, I have a goodly heritage. Psalm 18:6

kheh’-bel, khay’-bel

From H2254; a rope (as twisted), especially a measuring line; by implication

a district or inheritance (as measured); or a noose (as of cords); figuratively a

company (as if tied together); also a throe (especially of parturition); also ruin:—

band, coast, company, cord, country, destruction, line, lot, pain, pang, portion,

region, rope, snare, sorrow, tackling.

THERE ARE THREE MEASURING LINES I WANT TO TALK ABOUT TODAY.

1. THE LINE OF PROTECTION

7And they shall take of the blood, and strike it on the two side posts and on the upper door post of the houses, wherein they shall eat it.

12For I will pass through the land of Egypt this night, and will smite all the firstborn in the land of Egypt, both man and beast; and against all the gods of Egypt I will execute judgment: I am the LORD. 13And the blood shall be to you for a token upon the houses where ye are: and when I see the blood, I will pass over you, and the plague shall not be upon you to destroy you, when I smite the land of Egypt.

A. THE BLOOD OF A LAMB WAS TO BE THEIR PROTECTION

B. NOT ONLY THE BLOOD BUT THE OBEDIENCE

C. NOT ONLY THE OBEDIENCE BUT THE FAITH IN THE BLOOD

2. THE LINE OF DECISION

26Then Moses stood in the gate of the camp, and said, Who is on the LORD’S side? let him come unto me. And all the sons of Levi gathered themselves together unto him.

A CALF MADE TO WORSHIP

A CHOICE HAD TO BE MADE

WORSHIP THE SEEN ARE WORSHIP THE UNSEEN

THERE IS A DECISION TO BE MADE

3. A LINE OF VICTORY

30When Jesus therefore had received the vinegar, he said, It is finished: and he bowed his head, and gave up the ghost.

A LINE HAD BEEN DRAWN AROUND ALL WHO WOULD ACCEPT CHRIST FOR SALVATION

A LINE HAD BEEN DRAWN AROUND HIS CHURCH

THE GATES OF HELL SHALL BNOT PREVAIL AGAINST IT.
