Plan for: Thanksgiving | Advent | Christmas
This sermon explores the manifestation of Christ as the Light of the World, His humble birth, and the glory of His future return.
Good morning, beloved. We gather here today, not as strangers, not as mere acquaintances, but as a family knit together by the love of Christ. We gather as children of the Most High, eager and ready to bask in the warmth of His Word. As our hearts align in worship, we open our minds to understand the profound truths that the Lord has prepared for us today.
We stand on the precipice of a grand revelation, a revelation that can only be found in the depths of the Word of God. Today, we will be looking into the profound truths embedded in the pages of Isaiah 60:1-3, and the Gospel according to John, chapters 1 and 8.
"Arise, shine, for your light has come, and the glory of the LORD rises upon you. See, darkness covers the earth and thick darkness is over the peoples, but the LORD rises upon you and his glory appears over you. Nations will come to your light, and kings to the brightness of your dawn." (Isaiah 60:1-3)
"In Him was life, and that life was the light of men. The light shines in the darkness, but the darkness has not understood it." (John 1:4-5)
"When Jesus spoke again to the people, He said, "I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life." (John 8:12)
These passages, dear friends, speak to us about the manifestation of the Messiah, the majesty of the manger, and the magnificence of His return. They beckon us to arise, to shine, for our Light has come. But who is this Light? How does this Light manifest? What is the majesty of the manger? And what is the magnificence of His return?
In the words of the esteemed D.L. Moody, "We are told to let our light shine, and if it does, we won't need to tell anybody it does. Lighthouses don't fire cannons to call attention to their shining- they just shine." The Light we speak of is none other than Christ Himself, and to understand Him, we must strive to be like Him, to live a life of holiness and love.
As we continue to navigate the depths of these scriptures, we find ourselves standing before a humble manger in Bethlehem ... View this full PRO sermon free with PRO
