This sermon explores recognizing Jesus' majesty, amplifying His message in our lives, and inspiring others towards a relationship with Him.

Introduction

Welcome, beloved, to this blessed gathering where we come together, not as mere spectators, but as active participants in the grand narrative of God's love. We are here to unwrap the divine mysteries, to soak in the profound wisdom, and to be stirred by the life-altering truths that God, in His infinite mercy, has chosen to reveal to us through His Holy Word.

Our scripture today comes from John 12:20-33: "Now there were some Greeks among those who went up to worship at the festival. They came to Philip, who was from Bethsaida in Galilee, with a request. “Sir,” they said, “we would like to see Jesus.” Philip went to tell Andrew; Andrew and Philip in turn told Jesus. Jesus replied, “The hour has come for the Son of Man to be glorified. Very truly I tell you, unless a kernel of wheat falls to the ground and dies, it remains only a single seed. But if it dies, it produces many seeds. Anyone who loves their life will lose it, while anyone who hates their life in this world will keep it for eternal life. Whoever serves me must follow me; and where I am, my servant also will be. My Father will honor the one who serves me. Now my heart is troubled, and what shall I say? ‘Father, save me from this hour’? No, it was for this very reason I came to this hour. Father, glorify your name!” Then a voice came from heaven, “I have glorified it, and will glorify it again.” The crowd that was there and heard it said it had thundered; others said an angel had spoken to him. Jesus said, “This voice was for your benefit, not mine. Now is the time for judgment on this world; now the prince of this world will be driven out. And I, when I am lifted up from the earth, will draw all people to myself.” He said this to show the kind of death he was going to die."

As we contemplate these words, let us bow our heads in prayer. Heavenly Father, we thank You for gathering us here today. We are humbled by Your grace and awed by Your love. As we turn to Your Word, we ask that You open our hearts and minds, that we may understand Your teachings and apply them in our lives. May Your Word be a lamp unto our feet and a light unto our path. In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.

Manifesting the Majesty of Jesus

In the scripture we read today, we find an interesting encounter. Greeks, foreigners, outsiders, they come seeking Jesus. They approach Philip with a simple request, "Sir, we would like to see Jesus." It's a simple request, yet profound. It's a request that echoes in our hearts today. We too, like those Greeks, want to see Jesus. We want to see His majesty, His glory, His love, His grace. We want to see Jesus.

Now, what does it mean to see Jesus? It's not just about physically seeing Him. It's about recognizing His majesty, acknowledging His sovereignty, and experiencing His love. It's about seeing Him as the Son of God, the Savior of the world, the King of kings and the Lord of lords.

The Greeks in our scripture today wanted to see Jesus. They wanted to see the one who turned water into wine, who fed the five thousand, who walked on water, who raised Lazarus from the dead. They wanted to see the one who spoke with authority, who loved unconditionally, who forgave freely, who served selflessly.

But why did they want to see Jesus? Was it out of curiosity? Was it out of admiration? Was it out of desperation? We don't know. The scripture doesn't tell us. But what we do know is that they wanted to see Jesus. And that's all that mattered. Their desire to see Jesus led them to seek Him, to approach Him, to request Him. Their desire to see Jesus brought them to the place where they could encounter Him, experience Him, know Him.

Application questions. And what about us? Do we want to see Jesus? Do we desire to see His majesty, His glory, His love, His grace? Do we seek Him, approach Him, request Him? Do we come to the place where we can encounter Him, experience Him, know Him? Do we open the door for us to see His majesty, His glory, His love, His grace? Do we make it possible for us to see Jesus?

The scripture today challenges us to see Jesus. It invites us to see His majesty, His glory, His love, His grace. It calls us to seek Him, to approach Him, to request Him. It leads us to the place where we can encounter Him, experience Him, know Him.

Transition. So, let us see Jesus. Let us see His majesty, His glory, His love, His grace. Let us seek Him, approach Him, request Him. Let us come to the place where we can encounter Him, experience Him, know Him. Let us open the door for us to see His majesty, His glory, His love, His grace. Let us make it possible for us to see Jesus. Let us see Jesus.
