Preach "The King Has Come" 3-Part Series this week!
Preach Christmas week
In life we have three big appointments.
In life, we all have three significant appointments that we cannot avoid. These appointments are essential and necessary for our understanding and preparation. They are the appointments of death, judgment, and salvation. Let us explore each of these appointments and their significance.
Death is a topic that many people avoid discussing. However, it is an inevitable part of life. Every day, thousands of people pass away, and we are reminded of our own mortality. Death does not discriminate; it comes to everyone. We have no control over when or how it will happen. God has already determined the time, date, and place of our appointment with death. We cannot change or delay it. Some may go to their eternal home in heaven, while others may face eternal separation from God in hell.
After death, we will face the appointment of judgment. Hebrews 9:27 states that "people are destined to die once, and after that to face judgment." Both saints and sinners will stand before God for judgment. The saints will appear at the Judgment Seat of Christ, where their works will be evaluated for rewards in heaven. The sinners will stand before the Great White Throne Judgment, where they will be held accountable for their actions on earth. Those whose names are not found in the book of life will be cast into the lake of fire.
Amidst these appointments, there is hope for salvation. God does not desire anyone to perish but wants all to obtain salvation through Jesus Christ (1 Timothy 2:4). Salvation is a voluntary appointment that each person can choose to accept or reject. It is available to us now, without any specific time or date. Romans 10:9-10 explains that salvation comes through confessing with our mouth that Jesus is Lord and believing in our hearts that God raised Him from the dead. When we accept Jesus as our Savior, we become new creatures in Christ, and old things pass away.
In conclusion, we cannot escape the three appointments in life: death, judgment, and salvation. Death is certain for everyone, and we must be prepared for it. Judgment awaits both saints and sinners, where we will be held accountable for our actions. However, salvation is available to all who accept Jesus Christ as their Savior. It is a voluntary appointment that brings new life and eternal hope. Let us not delay in making this appointment with salvation, for it is the most important decision we will ever make.
