Summary: Letting God be your Pastor

LETTING GOD BE YOUR SHEPHERD

Isaiah 58:11-12

The LORD will guide you always; he will satisfy your needs in a sun-scorched land and will strengthen your frame. You will be like a well-watered garden, like a spring whose waters never fail. Your people will rebuild the ancient ruins and will raise up the age-old foundations; you will be called Repairer of Broken Walls, Restorer of Streets with Dwellings.

I. THE BLESSINGS THAT FOLLOWS THOSE THAT SEEK HIM

A. “The Lord will guide you always”

1. Jn 16:13 “But when he, the Spirit of truth, comes, he will guide you into all truth. He will not speak on his own; he will speak only what he hears, and he will tell you what is yet to come

a. Be Sensitive to the voice of the Spirit

B. “he will satisfy your needs in a sun-scorched land”

1. Not only in the good but also in the bad.

2. We always seem to think that God is there only in the good

C. “will strengthen your frame”

1. Ps. 41:3 “The LORD will sustain him on his sickbed and restore him from his bed of illness.”

D. “You will be like a well-watered garden”

1. Healthy and nourished

2. Fragrance – 2 Cor. 2:14-16 “But thanks be to God, who always leads us in triumphal procession in Christ and through us spreads everywhere the fragrance of the knowledge of him. For we are to God the aroma of Christ among those who are being saved and those who are perishing.”

E. “like a spring whose waters never fail”

1. This spring never fails because the waters come directly from the Spirit of God

II. THE BLESSINGS THAT FOLLOW THOSE THAT ARE COMING BEHIND US

A. “Your people will rebuild the ancient ruins”

1. Our people – Those that come behind us

2. The promise that our children will continue with this vision

3. “Rebuild”

1. That which needs fixing, will be fixed

2. By our children!

B. “thou shalt raise up the foundations that have remained from generation to generation;”

1. Many of us are worried about the future of our family

2. If we are faithful: We will raise up the foundation

3. “from generation to generacion”

C. “you will be called Repairer of Broken Walls”

1. “Repairer”

1. Walls that had been broken, destroyed

2. 1 Cor 3:11, 12 “For no one can lay any foundation other than the one already laid, which is Jesus Christ. If any man builds on this foundation using gold, silver, costly stones, wood, hay or straw,”

D. “Restorer of Streets with Dwellings.”

1. Not Street but streets

2. Many things that we need to restore

1. Altar,

2. Scripture

3. Fellowship

4. Holiness
