Let Us Encourage One Another Series
Contributed by William Lock on Mar 4, 2009 (message contributor)
Summary: Let us take the time we spend together and actually encourage one another.
Hebrews 10:19-25
Therefore…Let us…
Hebrews 10:19-21
Therefore,
since we have confidence to enter the sanctuary
by the blood of Jesus
by the new and living way
that he opened for us through the curtain
that is, through his flesh
since we have a great priest over the house of God
better than the angels
better than the High priest
a better HOPE
a better Covenant
What do we do about it?
Therefore…Let us…
New covenant vs. Old covenant?
What do we do with our Better than angels, better than priests, better hope and better covenant Jesus perspective?
Hebrews 10:22
let us,
approach with a true heart in full assurance of faith
with our hearts sprinkled clean from an evil conscience
and our bodies washed with pure water.
Hebrews 10:23
let us,
hold fast to the confession of our hope without wavering
for he who has promised is faithful.
Hebrews 10:24-25
let us,
consider how to provoke one another to love and good deeds,
not neglecting to meet together
encouraging one another
and all the more as you see the Day approaching
Hebrews 10:19-25
Therefore…Let us… encourage one another
Hebrews 10:25
μὴ ἐγκαταλείποντες τὴν ἐπισυναγωγὴν ἑαυτῶν
not leaving behind the bringing together of ourselves
ASV/KJV: Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together
ESV/NRSV/NLT: not neglecting to meet together (see Acts 2:42-47)
NIV/GNT: Let us not give up (the habit of) meeting together
Let us not neglect meeting so that:
we’ll always have a place for people with unbiblical authority to push their personal agendas
we’ll always have a place to battle for power, privilege and authority
we’ll always have a place not so much to practice Christianity but at least a place to talk about it
we’ll always have a place to go when we need to talk about other sinners
we’ll always have a comfort zone where we don’t really have to grow and from where our church can bash other churches
Therefore…Let us….
Vs. 22: let us draw near to God with a sincere heart in full assurance of faith
Vs. 23: Let us hold unswervingly to the hope we profess
Vs. 24: let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds.
Vs. 25: Let us not give up meeting together
but, let us encourage one another
Hebrews 10:19-25
Therefore…Let us…
draw Near to God
hold strong to our hope
encourage one another
towards love & good deeds
all week long
