Summary: God's first words were let there be light.

Genesis 1:1-5 "Let there be light"

1. Gods first words to humanity (Let there be light)

• When God began the process of creation the text says, “When God began to create the heavens and the earth”, when did this happen? Thousands million years ??

• What we do Know is it is apparent God wanted Light

• We do Know God created the Heavens and the Earth

• We also know The Earth was in chaos ( Disorder)

• We know when God said, “Let there be Light” Disorder seems to become order as the Wind (breath or Spirit) swept over the waters..

2. There is something special about the Light

• Light is superior over Darkness 13I saw that wisdom is better than folly, just as light is better than darkness. Eccle

• Light is part of the pleasures of Life The Psalmist says, “9For with you is the fountain of life; in your light we see light.

• One commentator said the following about Light: “Light is a recurring symbol in the Bible and is often used to represent God’s truth, goodness, and holiness

• In Psalm 119:105, God’s word is described as a light and lamp that guides and instructs us on how to live pure lives. Gods Truth guides, instructs, directs us

• It is believed that the light or word of God has the power to cleanse us and change our minds, allowing us to live noble lives that please God. This is Gods Goodness

• Light is also used to represent Christ, who is described as the light who will come to illuminate the world and save mankind from darkness. This brings us to holiness

3. Where can we find Light? When we separate from darkness we will find light God separated darkness in the text

• As people created in God's image, we are called to live in light not darkness

• We live in darkness, when we continue to engage in repeated sins,

• We live in darkness when we take advantage of the people around us,

• We live in darkness when we're bound by anger or burdened with the regrets and hurts of the past.

• WE can find Light even if our lives out of control, our lives are chaos (Out of order) this darkness is holding us back from living lives that have meaning and purpose. John says, : God is light; in him there is no darkness at all. 7But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus, his Son, purifies us from allB sin.

4. We can in this new year Walk in the Light

• God is constantly calling us to the light not darkness

• If we will confess our brokenness. (1 John 1:9) 9If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.,

• We can walk in Light if we Obey Gods Commands (1 John 2:3) 3We know that we have come to know him if we obey his commands. 4The man who says, "I know him," but does not do what he commands is a liar, and the truth is not in him.

• Walking in the light means living a life of righteousness, truth, and love. It means following God’s guidance and direction for our life, and striving to be pure and holy in all your actions. Walking in the light is the opposite of walking in darkness, which represents sin, deception, and confusion

5. God expects us to Be Light so Let there be Light

• Jesus shined his light on all people , he said, "I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life." Jesus is our light, and he brought light to those around Him with His love.

• Just a little bit of light makes a big difference

• Lets be willing to be the Light Be bold enough to shine your light no matter how small or insignificant you may feel. Remember, it takes only a flicker to change the room. Furthermore, you may brighten someone else’s life just with your smile.

• Be Light by choosing to turn on the lights when chaos surrounds the room
