Summary: Breaking the Spirit of Containment

Exodus 8:1

And the Lord spoke to Moses, “Go to Pharaoh and say to him, ‘Thus says the Lord: “Let My people go, that they may serve Me.

Intro:

Pharaoh kept the Israelites contained in bondage for 439 years. He broke their spirit and had them in total bondage. That spirit of containment is in the church today. The children of God are putting up with more that they have to. Today we don’t even know what bathroom to use. We have power, authority and dominion over satan and all his devices. He want to keep us contained and beaten down. We it is time to break that spirit of containment in the name of The Lord.

Let’s look at some characteristics of people who are contained and see how we ca break this spirit of Containment in our lives.

4 Characteristics Of People Who Are Contained

Their Service Was Rigorous

Exodus 1:14

And they made their lives bitter with hard bondage—in mortar, in brick, and in all manner of service in the field. All their service in which they made them serve was with rigor.

We Come to church because we have to.

We “Labor for the Lord”

I don’t much feel like it but I’ll go.

There is no passion in the church today. It is just the same old grind. ??What you are passionate about you pursue.

We need to get passionate about the things of The Lord, and pursue Him with all our heart, soul mind and strength.

Their Sorrow Is Constant

Exodus 3:7

And the Lord said: “I have surely seen the oppression of My people who are in Egypt, and have heard their cry because of their taskmasters, for I know their sorrows.

God spoke to Moses at the burning bush and let him know that He recognized their hurt and pain. He also was going to give them a way out of it.

The enemy wants us in constant sorrow, and we fall for it.

“Well that’s just the way it is.” CHANGE THE WAY IT IS!!

“I guess I just gotta cope with it.” CONQUER IT!!!

We can’t remember the scripture, but we sure can remember the day and time of our problem.

Their Sacrifice Has Ceased

Exodus 3:18

Then they will heed your voice; and you shall come, you and the elders of Israel, to the king of Egypt; and you shall say to him, ‘The Lord God of the Hebrews has met with us; and now, please, let us go three days’ journey into the wilderness, that we may sacrifice to the Lord our God.’

They were wanting to take a three day journey to sacrifice to The Lord. We can start a war if we ask someone to change seats.

The enemy wants us to be contained and he will keep us that way if we don’t learn the meaning of sacrifice.

When is the last time you gave sacrificially?

The enemy loves to contain us through our wallets.

Luke 6:38

“Give, and it will be given to you: good measure, pressed down, shaken together, and running over will be put into your bosom. For with the same measure that you use, it will be measured back to you.””

Their Spirit Is Crushed

Exodus 6:9

So Moses spoke thus to the children of Israel; but they did not heed Moses, because of anguish of spirit and cruel bondage.

Mose was trying to let the people know that God had something better for them, but they didn’t heed because of anguish. They were crushed.

That is EXACTLY where the enemy wants us to be. So distraught and disgusted that we fail to see what God has for us.

It’s time to say “ENOUGH IS ENOUGH!” I am not putting up with this anymore. I have had it with you devil.

Conclusion

The enemy will keep us in bondage if we allow him to. We must realize that we have authority. We do not have to live in the spirit of containment, and when we figure it out we need to help others to see that they don’t have to put up with it either.

Just like God spoke to Moses at the Burning Bush, he had a message for the people of Israel.

WHEN GOD HAS A MESSAGE, HE NEEDS A MAN!

We need to be the ones to wave this banner of freedom in The Lord Jesus Christ!!
