Psalm 48 Let Mount Zion Rejoice

1. THE GLORY OF ZION—Verses 1-3 Her

i. Presence - 1 Great is the Lord, and greatly to be praised

ii. Provision - in the city of our God, in the mountain of his holiness ii. Praise - 2 Beautiful for situation, the joy of the whole earth, is mount Zion, on the sides of the north, the city of the great King.

iii. Protection - 3 God is known in her palaces for a refuge.

2. THE GATHERING AT ZION—Verses 4-8

i. Her Danger - 4 the kings were assembled, they passed by together

ii. Her Defence - 5 They saw it, and so they marvelled; they were troubled, and hasted away. iii. Her Defiance - 6 Fear took hold upon them there, and pain, as of a woman in travail. iv. Her Deliverence - 7 Thou breakest the ships of Tarshish with an east wind. v. Her Delight - 8 As we have heard, so have we seen in the city of the Lord of hosts,

in the city of our God: God will establish it for ever. Selah. 3. THE GLADNESS IN ZION—Verse 9-11

i. Their Triumph - 9 We have thought of thy lovingkindness, O God, in the midst of thy temple.

ii. Their Testimony 10 According to thy name, O God, so is thy praise unto the ends of the earth: thy right hand is full of righteousness

iii. Their Truth - 11 Let mount Zion rejoice, let the daughters of Judah be glad, because of thy judgments.

4. THE GRATIFICATION OVER ZION—Verses 12-14

i. Her Salvation - 12 Walk about Zion, and go round about her: tell the towers thereof. ii. Her Satisfaction - 13 Mark ye well her bulwarks, consider her palaces; that ye may tell it to the generation following.

iii. Her Supervision - 14 For this God is our God for ever and ever:

he will be our guide even unto death.

1. A Powerful God - 14 For this God

2. A Personal God - 14 For this God is our God

3. A Perpetual God - for ever and ever - Heb13 I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee

4. A Practical God - he will be our guide

5. A Perennial God - even unto death -

Ps 73:24 Thou shalt guide me with thy counsel, and afterward receive me to glory.
